I think the caption says it all.
"5th gen Prelude at Reno-Fernley, Oct 2005. Day 2, I caught up with Brian Geyer in his red Fiero, and we both passed a slower car, then I followed him for about two laps. "
hmm 5th gen vs only 1 gen, possibly an 88 could be considered 1.5 gen. Big HP difference, and some decent straights on that course. Also he followed the fiero, didnt get to pass, so the fiero handled itself decently.
Shaun you know you want a supra............ sell your fiero and buy one.
for the recored, supra, prelude, and any other car shaun uses vs the fiero is lumped into the "supra column" for ease of discussion.

Fiero pulled away post-apex in just about every corner. Torque + traction = superior off-corner acceleration.
The Honduh driver was also cutting a tighter, more efficient line than the Fiero driver. It looked like the Fiero driver was also late with the power late with the power coming off corners...
The Honda's advantage is in it's brakes and straight line power. The Fiero has the advantage coming off the apex.
The Fiero requires the classic slow in, fast out cornering method. The uneasy rear suspension and poor stock brakes (very minimal upgrades are allowed in most racing classes) make fast corner entry unwise, but the torque and traction make fast corner exits easy.
