Pretty good thread about thermal barrier coatings. There are some guys on SpeedTalk who have done a lot of thinking AND a lot of testing and the conversations are frequently very interesting.

Just FYI. I just came across this reading the GMECM list. Thought I would advertise. It's a new forum, but won't be going anywhere without traffic!

Haven't had time to dig in and see what this community is about, but the name looked interesting:

PDF on ignition systems. haven't had a chance to really read it yet, but at a glace, it seems informative.

Very interesting take on a "new age" test light:

It's a tool.
If you give it to a chimpanzee, he'll use it as a hammer.
So it's really about learning how to use it.
I still use an HP analogue scope model 1742A, only because I've been using it daily since about 1985 and I inherited it from my old employer.
I've used digital scopes, never liked them, never needed them.
Got a cheap handheld LCD digital storage scope, don't like it, don't use it.
I've never actually NEEDED one to hook up to a car.
What is better for a lot of jobs is a probe with LEDs (made my own, 3 LEDs, 3 resistors), connect it up to the battery pos and neg with crocodile clips, the probe will light the green LED with an earth, will light 2 red LEDs with 12V and will light a single red LED with 5V.
It's the best tool for testing pulses to ignition , injectors etc. Finds blown fuses in seconds.

Frictional power of two engines of the same displacement but with different bore/stroke combinations. The big bore engine has less frictional loss.

Two good master cylinder to caliper piston sizing links
If you want the math a pretty good place to start is here:

Some additional explanations and a good rule of thumb chart is on this page

Here's another great site for brake system calculations:
https://brakepower.com/
Make sure to read all of the references, they're very informative.
There is a common misconception that stepped bore tandem master cylinders have different front and rear output pressures and can be used to adjust bias like in a dual master cyl setup. This is not true --- the piston that separates the front and rear bores floats in the front bore, so the output pressures are the same front and rear. The reason for the step is to account for the lower fluid volume used by the smaller rear calipers. This can be easily verified by hooking pressure gauges up to the front and rear outputs of the master cyl (before any external proportioning valve) and stepping on the pedal.

Very decent article on running a returnless PWM pump with current fuel pump module functionality and how to reverse engineer when no room to fit a modern fuel module into the fuel tank... i.e. the fiero tank.
