The life of the Rare88, back in tune....FINALLY!!!!

Post by Red3800SC »

Well as you some now, my engine blew up again in June. This time was a computer problem yet again, that I will not get into at this time (bad ordeal). Engine has been down for a few months, but it is about ready to hit the streets again. This time, I have everything done, but more than last time which was a VS Cam, Ported heads, 3" exhaust, 42.5lbs injectors, electric water pump, and 3.25" pulley. I got a Full Blown Intercooler, running a 3.0" pulley for now, wide band o2, PRJ Fuel rails, Northstar throttle body, ported intake for the IC, and ported blower. The car will be tuned by a friend of mine locally with HP Tuners, as we bought the tuning system and a wide band sensor to tune off of. We expect 11's when it is all dialed in, but that's just what we expect with all my other mods. Pictures are below. Still have to notch the decklid that we removed and modify the vent so it fits properly and run the front mount heat exchanger and lines.

Well as of about 30 minutes ago, we go the Intercooler hoses ran to the front of the car. Got the throttle body on (the stock one for now) and LS1 maf. Just gotta figure out how to run the ZZP Heat exchanger. I might end up buying a Fluidyne one for a 03 Cobra, which is half the size of the ZZP one, but works for 500whp Cobras, so it should work nicely if this one doesn't fit. We will see what kind of modifications I have to do to the ZZP to make it fit with the AC Condenser. Anyways, car just started a minute ago, time to put HP Tuners on it and check any codes and make sure it's all good. I'll keep you guys posted.

Well got the car started yesterday. Everything sounds great. Found a couple of air leaks that we got fixed. Just gotta get the IC radiator installed and we are good to go. I will be getting it tuned sometime this week. I'm pretty pumped.

Intercooler heat exchanger is mounted up front. Did have to remove the AC Condenser to make it fit. I will be buying a 03 Cobra one, that is tons smaller come in a few months. But for now, it's not getting any warmer around Kansas. I will replace it come March when it starts getting warmer out. I also got a resevoir for the back to fill with ice for the system. Only thing left is to mount the pump and get it wired in. And then tune the car with the wideband o2 and HP Tuners. I'll have videos to post here in a few days.

Got a tune on it for now, and the wide band hooked up. It feels great, with no sort of detonation. Just waiting to get my N* throttle body put on and I will be all set for a real tune. I need to change my oil and check for any leaks as there does not appear to be any. I'll keep you guys up to date.
