4X10 speakers in dash

Post by SGT.ROCK »

Has anyone ever put anything other than the 4X10s in the dash of their Fiero? I had some Kicker Impulse 4X10s and 4X6s in my 86 GT back in like 1998 and I liked the way they sounded but now I cant really find anything in the 4X10 size brand wise that I like.I was thinking of buying some Polk 4X6s and seeing if anyone on here has fabricated a way to install them in the dash so that i could have them in the dash and in the sail panels of my 86 SE. Thanks. :salute:

There are actually some pretty good options for 4x10's. Pioneer gave the best results for anything that I tried (Kicker & Audiobahn being the others) but I know that Eclipse and Memphis make 4x10's and I've been really happy with the 4x6's I've had by them.

I've seen people put double sets of 4" round speakers. It pretty much kills the bass response, so unless you're rocking a decent sub, I wouldn't go that route.

I crammed some 6X9 3 ways in my dash. I had to cut into the vent ducts alittle to get the massive magnet to clear. I did it because I had 2 extra 6X9's laying around at home.

yes, I got the sony Xplode 6x9's - and they are decent sounding - but they are very cheaply built. I like that they are red tho.... :thumbleft:

sony x-Blahs

Cut in 6X9's and use cutom grilles in the dash to raise it up so the magnet clears. you can make grilles out of wire mesh and paint them interior color.

I have twin 4" coaxials up there. Makes for a very clear mid-high range that can be heard anywhere with the doors open.

Very little bass though. That's what the 6.5" PVC "tube" in front of the pass. seat is for. } ; ]

What do you guys think about installing some 4X6 plates in the dash? Although I did see some 4X10 Polk audio speakers on e-bay!

I think you need to decide for yourself what you want to do.

1) stay stock size and find the best 4x10 you can

or

2) find the speaker you want to use and make it fit. Anything up to 6x9's
