Schematic generation program

Post by The Dark Side of Will »

I know we have some code and electronics geeks in this forum...

What's a (preferrably free) decent computer program for drawing schematics/circuit diagrams (not necessarily laying out boards)?

Eagle

Orcad is better for just schematics, and IMHO is more user friendly, but I don't know for sure if they offer any free versions. You can check here: http://www.cadence.com/orcad/

Eagle is good, especially the pay version. I have the student version of Pspice on my PC, but I dont have the disk. If you want it and cant find it, I think I can make it a torrent and seed it for you if you have a torrent program.

I used Express pcb to make this:

(the diagrams, not the crappy soldering job)

PSpice student version is a free download from thier site. Suppose to allow you to simulate your design - I have no real experience with this one).

You could also try Electronics workbench (Multisim) (they have a 30 day trial period). Allows you to simulate your design

I personally use Multisim (it also comes with a board layout program - Utility board). It comes with most common parts in the database, PSpice, I ofund you have to download the device models from the net as it only comes with a very limited amount.

Or use as suggested above by Whipped. :)

enjoy ;)

Pspice can be brought into autocad to generate board layouts.

*I think* I've never actually done it.
