Me vs. The Darkness
I kicked its ass. I need to bleed my clutch tonight and its dark out, so I went looking for a good drop light or flashlight with magnetic base. I came across the vector light bar 26 LED drop light. Retail $30 and I picked it up. Along with a Mighty Vac caume bleeder, another $30 bucks.
THIS LIGHT KICKS ASS!
Its so bright, works cordless and with a cord. $ hour run time on full bright, 7 hrs on half bright, which is still really bright. I recommend anyone looking for a good work light take a look at this.

One of my co-workers recently started making fun of me every time I talk about LED-based products. I tried to explain to him that I'm a geek and can't help it.
Nice light you got there, must be nice to not worry about a cord getting wrapped around your foot! I've only got 2 LED flashlights right now. There's a 3AA cell 1W Streamlight Tasklight backed in a box somewhere and a cheesy 2AA Chinese light in the maglight holder on my hip. Between that and the Gerber that's also in the holder I can fix anything, anytime! } ; ]

When LED flashlights first came out, I saved up the 80 bux to get one. 2AA with three 1st gen nichia LEDs. Carried it with me at all times for just over a year before it broke.
Now I carry a Coast Cutlery 1 watt that takes 3AAA that I got from Fry's Electronics for about 30 dollars.

The problem with them is the cost, and the distribution. They are great when focused, but output drops dramatically with distance. There are a lot of cities (including mine) going to LED's for traffic signals, and they are wonderful. Also lots of police depts. using LED lightbars on their cars and bikes, also beautiful to look at!crzyone wrote:You would have thought LEDs would have made regular bulbs obsolete by now. Just as bright and power savings.

their problem is they are not yet a good replacement for household bulbs. but compact florescents are taking care of that market.crzyone wrote:You would have thought LEDs would have made regular bulbs obsolete by now. Just as bright and power savings.
but I also don't see how this goes in maintanance, if you don't want it in rft vs world then i would have moved it to anything goes. eh, doesn't much matter though
