The beauty is that if you take the flex line off the slave end of the Fiero Store's stainless steel clutch line, it's a 4AN connector. Just a simple AN hose is all that's needed. :D

Premade taper bosses for custom spindles: http://www.colemanracing.com/Spindle-Ey ... P4445.aspx

The "K" numbers refer to the Moog ball joint part that fits the taper:
K6024 is a 7-degree taper upper ball joint
K727 is a 7-degree (large diameter) taper lower ball joint
K6141 is a 7-degree (large diameter) taper lower ball joint

The K5108 might fit the K6024 taper, since the K5108 is the 7-degree taper version of the K5208 (10-degree). However the stud size is a little different, so it might slip in too far...

Haha not that! I was talking about the weld-on taper holes so you don't have to buy a reamer to make knuckles.

That is interesting... I didn't get that's what you were pointing out from your initial post.

Coleman Racing (http://www.colemanracing.com) also sells weld-in taper bosses for fabricating spindles. I compiled some information about them:

Code: Select all

Coleman Taper p/n Moog Balljoint p/n Taper Angle Start Diameter End Diameter Stud Thread Position
808-710 K6024* 7 deg (1.5 in/ft) 0.72 in 0.60 in 1/2-20 (?) Upper
808-705 K727 7 deg (1.5 in/ft) 0.89 in 0.76 in 3/4-?? (?) Lower
808-700 K6141** 10 deg (2 in/ft) 0.8065 in 0.6725 in 5/8-18 (??) Lower

* -- All of the K6024 style balljoints I find have the 7* Ford taper angle, and there is a note about reaming out stock GM spindles to use them. The actual Moog K6024 balljoint may have a 10 degree taper angle. I cannot find a confirmation of this.

** -- This ball joint has an outside diameter of 2.190" and it presses into the lower control arm. Press-in sleeves are available from Speedway Motors, p/n 91034814. (2.189" ID, 2.495" OD, 1" height)

I just discovered this:
cribbj wrote:Mark, did you know the hose itself is now available with a black sheath? Very OEM looking. Here's the mfg: Products | TechAFX

And a dealer: Pace Performance AFX630008 - TechAFX -8 AN Black Wrap Stainless Steel Braided PTFE Hose

I've purchased some of this and it looks good. The outer sheath is a bit shinier than standard dull black hose, but it blends in better than the SS braid. I've also found that you don't need their special fittings - my guy at the Parker store just peeled back the black sheath enough to get his fittings on and it worked well and held up under 800 psi of hydraulic pressure.

Nice find!
Interesting that the front AND rear of the C6 Corvette take the same bearing part numbers. The C6 Z06 and ZR1 take the same BR930544 both front and rear, which is a different unit than the base Vettes take. It would be a dream come true with dimensioned drawings.

Also, Brembo has 61 pages of rotors with 300mm diameter and 5 bolt circle

That's only true for the Z06 and ZR1. The Grand Sport and base C6 use a non-splined hub up front. I have one on my desk. The ZR1 does use an upgraded bearing (and it appears to be listed for the Z06 too but I don't think that it was given the ZR1 bearing from the factory).

Not sure how it can be applied, but Aerogel (the trade name for space shuttle tile stuff) is now available in various forms including flexible matting. The R-factor is about 2.5 times that of the best of standard insulations.
