I'll get brake component weights next time I have brakes off.

I can also get control arm & ball joint weights pretty easily now, too.

EDIT: I don't remember how much the 88 calipers weigh, but I remember they weigh the same as the 4-pot Brembos from the Porsche 993 Turbo that are on Chris West's car.

The '88 caliper can't be that heavy... The Grand Prix caliper is all iron and huge and it weighs 13 lbs. I recall seeing some '88 calipers on the shelf in the shed... I may weigh one next time I'm at my parents' (well... now dad's :( ) house.

The '84-'87 front caliper without pads is 3 lbs 4 oz

284 Axles where they enter the differential side gears are 31mm x 28 spline (obviously on a 3.5mm module)

The inner CV's appear to be the standard female CV's as used on the intermediate shafts of 282's. There's a "mini-stub" axle about 3" long on the driver's side that has male splines into the side gear on one end and male splines into the female CV joint on the other end.

That may not make any sense at first, but...
Liberty told me that the male CV joint cups are very soft... like RC 26 or so.
The side gears are much harder... about RC 58.
The very short spline engagement the side gears have with the male CV joint cup is enough to twist off the shaft.
The female CV joints have much deeper/longer spline engagement.
Therefore, making that small mini-stub very hard and splining it into the female CV joint cup is cheaper than making a male CV joint cup that's large and strong enough to handle the same torque.

Is this a good thread for this?

87 notch aero-nose
A/C
Auto
Spare and jack gone, but I’ve only really pulled stuff out to put different stuff back in.
2/3 tank of gas and even the floormats are still in it.
