Post by p8ntman442 »

Is it possible, does it really need the 3400 intake, therefore not allow for a distributor? It is possible Im just not sure how much custom wrok is needed. any tips.

Dude I am going to have to nicely ask you to start asking one question per post and keep all questions in the same post instead of starting new posts for each group of questions.

And to answer the question for this post, if you want to use heads that are of the Gen 2 or the Gen 3 design, you WILL need to change the pistons in that al block of yours.

If you want to use the aluminum heads that you got with the small valves that are iron head look alikes, then no piston change will be necessary. But of course they wont' flow that well.

How about intakes, and exhaust will the gen 1 stuff fit the gen 2 and 3, if I get new heads, I might as well get the pistons (rods too???) from the same engine. and have the new pistons balanced at the same time.

I can tell you anything you want about a quad 4, or rebuilding a getrag, izuzu, or 4t60-e, but as far as swaping parts on a 2. 8 im noobie. Never worked on one of these v6's more than new lifters and lim gaskets on a 3100. what can I say.

the best & easiest way is to use the WHOLE DANG MOTOR. get a nice fresh 3400 from a Grand Am. while yer at it, take the trans too. and if your really daring, take the dash & ABS too.
