THANKS!

That should be easy enough to figure out. Mock it up.

Put the rear mount on, line it and see what holes the getrag mount goes into. I am guessign that cradle was from a 4 spd? if so I think the mounting holes for both trannies are the same. Don't quote me though.

if worse comes to worse just test fit everything to see what lines up best.

or hell maybe someone here will know for sure.

Thanks Shaun, got it figured out.

Well here is the new cradle all pretty with Rodney's brackets and poly mounts

And here is the whole thing put together... I hate wrestling this pig!

Now I'm set for making motor mounts. I think I may try the dodge truck mounts. They are fairly solid and I will use them to support the weight of the motor only. I will have a dogbone for any twisting forces. Anyways, thats it for a week or so, back to work tomorrow night.

if you feel the need or just get bored one day, I would maybe box in that firewall tranny crosssupport. Not sure if that makes sense or not. But the old crossmember was cut out of course, and a bit for the tranny mount was left. Its open underneath so to add a bit of extra strength I would weld in a peice of steel to box it in and make it stronger there. If you do then maybe drill a couple of holes for drainage just in case

Your choice of course.

I would do that too, especially looking at your past with mounting engines...

Sorry, I had too :la:

Between the new crossmember and the old one I have a 1"X2" square tubing welded there. It feels very strong, if anything I will weld a plate to the end of the old crossbeam to strengthen that end of it.

My new mounts came in today. They are from a 1984 dodge truck, similar to the ones Darth Fiero uses. I needed a hard rubber mount since my transmission is no longer solid mounted, so these fit the bill.

They have interlocking tabs on them, should offer alittle more security if one of them decides to come apart. On the top they also have a tab so that the mount can not rotate, something the 1975 mounts didn't have.

I have 3 days off starting tomorrow, hopefully I can get my motor mounts finished.

Well a small update

Couldn't find my caddy front mount bracket so I bought a new one from GM. I had some time today so I decided to make my front mount. Its pretty simple, but should work. I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out. I will tac weld it into place, but I will have a profesional welder weld it to the cradle.

The rear mount is going be alittle more tricky. Still haven't figured out how its going to look like.

I will be strengthing that mount as well with some angles welded onto the sides and squaring off the open end. This was just to show how its going to mount.

Not really, the manifold is wrapped in insulation and at speed the mount will have some airflow around it.

Double wall stainless manifold.

It's nice working on a Cadillac, isn't it?

Yep Will is correct. It is double walled. I got to play around with one while up at Jon's place last December. For a factory peice its not that bad.

Its VERY nice working with this motor. Just looking at it you can see they spent some time and money to develop it.

Double walled, it should still be fairly cool on the outside correct?

Why ARE you going to sink that much time and effort into a V-6? 300hp and lighter than a 3.4dohc, can't beat that. Will easily handle a 100 shot of nitrous, sounds like a perfect swap :thumbleft:

Although, this swap is much more expensive if done correctly.

I dunno. Guess I fell in love with the 3.4. I'll just do it like you, once the 3.4 is modded as far as I can go, and it breaks or I'm not happy with it, then I can upgrade to N*. And by that time, hoefully used enigne prices will have gone down.
