So I helped out an old friend by yanking out the old, busted 4cyl, and slam-dunking a used motor out of another Fiero.

The new motor seems to run just fine, but it smokes.

Not the white palls of smoke that I'd associate with head gaskets... Not the blue-grey clouds from shot rings...

But a steady, steady steaming, regardless of how long the car is run--with the volume increasing like crazy when the throttle is opened or the car is working hard.

Plugs appear a little dark--but not oiled, fouled, or steamed, and the ECM throws an "exhaust rich" code periodically...

But I always associated "rich" with "dark puffs."

Also, coolant system pressure-checks OK, compression seems fine (110 across the board) oil seems clean, and while there is a bit of blow-by from the oil cap, it's not excessive.
