Everything in the engine cleaned up and de-rusted pretty well.

The pits on the cam lobes before polishing were only in the few microns deep range.

Tail Light Replacements

As I type this why does this feel like a question more for old EU? Need tail lights for the '85 that I'm rebuilding. They don't have to be OE. The outer lens is cracked but the frames are fine. Thinking about just cutting off the old lenses and fabricating new and then bonding to the frames. It also...

Re: Group buy: Front Lower Spherical Bearing Shells

Ok so I'll make a CNC run of them for a few $$ ea. I'll post the files online for anyone else to run them when they need more. Edit: I forgot ask what thickness Delrin did you use (ID vs OD) that it wore out so quickly? I've been using them for decades without issues. They don't need to be lubed fro...

5 minutes later I think I found them
Kit #: 201-6301

This kind of crap makes me want to start an open source data base of parts with open specs. Laser scanned parts with RE'd drawings and STEP files.

Did you use the stock rods for this?

If so which part number ARP rod bolts are used?

LZ4 (3.5L) stock rod bolts are M9x1x52

Re: Group buy: Front Lower Spherical Bearing Shells

Any idea how many miles these are lasting on the street?

I'm machining a set of delrin bushings for the control arms for a DD. Only costing me some time since i had everything in stock.

Re: '85 Iron Duke & TH125

It's coming out soon and will have a home on the shelf for a while. Since it comes with all the accessories, wire harness, rusty cradle etc etc somebody doing a restoration on the cheap with a bad Duke or trans will be able to use it. We put a new distributor on it to get it running. Video and pics ...

Re: Prices for Stock Fieros

New cars are in short supply since they cancelled orders for parts to build them early on during the pandemic. This has temporarily driven up the cost of used cars since for many buyers it is their only option.

Prices for Stock Fieros

I haven't followed the prices of Fieros over the years but now that I am looking for parts I'm finding lots of stock Fieros with <100K miles for well under $10k. Some models that look to be in excellent condition are in the $20k-30k range. Non running models seem to sell for <$1500. How many Fieros ...

How much more feel of the engine do you get with solid bushings in the engine cradle? Do you still have some vibration dampening in the motor mounts or are those solid as well?

Permatex® Prussian Blue is usually available at most auto part stores if they don't have the yellow gear marking grease.

Original Paint Used, not Colors

Anyone know what Pontiac used for the original paint on these cars back at the factory? I'm starting on a complete strip and repaint of an '85 using modern 2K urethane (coating + hardener/catalyst). just FYI. The prices are in this range: Epoxy primer $120 - $300/gal. Epoxy is a 2-part primer that g...

Re: LZ4 + 4T65-E Swap Into an 85 Using rusEFI

I'll see how my summer goes for time on the CAM grinder. If I go ahead we can make custom cams for the LZ9/LZ4 and keep the VVT or any engine up to 36" long. The engine is almost fully apart and is being cleaned up. I'll likely start on the body and frame next. Somebody lifted it in the wrong s...

Started back working on the heads earlier. What do you use for a valve spring compressor on these heads?

I made one in a few minutes on the mill from a drop I had.

Re: LZ4 + 4T65-E Swap Into an 85 Using rusEFI

CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) is not a problem for me since i can parametric model a camshaft in NX, Solidworks, Catia, Fusion, etc. etc. Or i can also trace the lobes that I like off one of the earlier camshafts and change the journals to whatever size i wish. Or a combo of both. Also https://...
