Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Nice this is looking great, are you planning to re-baseline it after all the suspension and brake mods but pre-motor swap? I was intending to! In fact I had it lined up to go to a track day last week to do shakedown of suspension and set a new baseline, but then the ol' iron duke started misfiring ...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
The Cavalier bearings add 2mm offset to the hub so you may need to face your uprights or make some changes to your brake brackets. The stock sliding calipers can accommodate the change but those fixed mount Porsche calipers probably won't. Good call. I can pull 2mm off the brake brackets to recente...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Well, there was next to zero progress over the winter, I was busy doing this: 327611183_2976857112619707_5632379983724839725_n.jpg But, back at it now. Engine is done at the machine shop and will go in as soon as there is a free lift at the shop. However, made some good progress on the rear suspensi...

They also have titanium rods to keep the rotating assembly light which wear out after 50k miles and spin bearingsShaun41178(2) wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 11:09 pm Ls7 engines redline from the factory at 7k rpm. They have hydraulic lifters.

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
I'm running the Rodney Dickman links also. They've held up really well. What springs are you using up front? Do you know the rate? Thanks folks, I'll look into Rodney's links. The springs are from WCF. They were supposed to be 700 front, 500 rear but the rears that I received are 400lb and the fron...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Been working on the front suspension lately. WCF upper/lower control arms, springs, viking double adjustables. 13" 2 piece rotors with the porsche brembo brakes. Coleman racing spindle adapters for the front bearings. Looking a lot more race car in here now. IMG_4705.jpg IMG_4709.jpg IMG_4796.j...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Thanks! That's an interesting site. I had seen the 1.0 Angel vent, or maybe the "Warber vent". The vented headlight doors look... interesting. The front fender vents would fit with my idea to duct the radiator volume THROUGH the frunk above the steel wheel houses and out the fenders, thus...

Not quite off-the-shelf but not a one off. It's a Paul Angel hood vent, specifically his 'Angel Vent 2.0'

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Nice.. what does that look like underneath? Did you have to cut the front sheet metal? No cutting of the front trunk wall, the hood scoop comes down riiight in front of it: IMG_4681.jpg IMG_4682.jpg At some later stage I'd like to fully duct the radiator so that all the air goes up through the hood...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Flares look great! Thanks! I'll take some better pics of the finished product once I'm done, they're all molded and finally attached, but I need to trim the inside of the wheel arch still, and fill in the small gaps around the fender intakes. Have you thought about replicating the style of the PPG ...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Couple more body work updates. Fab'd up a simple panel for the driver's side fender intake. The plan is to have a cone filter sitting in here behind the intake so I don't want it open to the road at the bottom to suck up water: image7.jpeg image8.jpeg Aaand, started working on the fender flares. I'm...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Looks like you're in the basement of a big condo/apartment building. The neighbors haven't given you any trouble for working on a car there? Not that big a building, only 4 floors of apartments. Thankfully everyone is very chill with me working on the car down there and I do my best to keep it clea...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
this will be a pretty unique looking car when you're done. Bumperpad fastback with notchie tails... got any other pictures? Thanks! I've always loved the 70s wedge cars like the Pantera, Esprit, and M1 so I've been putting together the Fiero pieces that most evoke those for me. I'm not anywhere clo...

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Got the first of my presents from WCF this week. Still waiting on the brakes and front shocks but this is enough to be able to get started on the rear. That's good, I was getting tired of fiberglass work... IMG_4466.jpg In other news I'm just about done the process of grafting on the fastback clip t...

Re: Double Adjustables on a Fiero??!!
I'll be getting the front vikings for my build from WCF as well. Opted not to go for the rears as it sounded like it would be a while, sticking with the Konis there.

Re: 1988 Fiero track car
Still waiting on various people for various things. K20 is at the machine shop. Engine mounts are in active production (finally). Westcoastfiero is almost done with my suspension and brakes. However, some progress has been made, my tires arrived, as did a pile of fun scoops and vents from Paul Angel...

Some more mostly cosmetic stuff that I've been working on while waiting for parts and such to do the more exciting parts Swapped on a bumperpad front bumper. I like the more old school lotus eprit-esque look that it gives the car. IMG_4237.jpg IMG_4236.jpg Also took out the inner grills of the deckl...
