Re: Crane Lifters = TEH SUCK

Keep in mind that 3 of the lifters were defective right out of the box. I'm talking about the engine sitting on the stand, setting valve lash for the first time, so I can finish putting it together and install it in the car. I don't think ZDDP (or the lack thereof) is going to make any difference th...

Re: Crane Lifters = TEH SUCK

No, I don't put additives in the oil. But I never had any problems until now. My previous engine had Edelbrock lifters (which are constructed differently, you can tell just by looking at them), and ran fine for over 20K miles. All the Crane lifters have the same failure mode thus far: the plunger st...

Crane Lifters = TEH SUCK

I just have to vent. A few months ago, I installed a GM 3.4 V6 crate engine in my Fiero. It came with the Crane H260 cam and lifters. Three of the lifters were defective right out of the box. Another failed after initial break-in. And now, a fifth one has failed. The engine has only 3700 miles on it...

Re: bumper..

One of the easiest ways to remove it is to wrap det cord around it.

Light fuse.

Step back.

Bumper pops off!

Good luck getting it back on, though.

I don't know... Lowlux can break just about anything.

BTW, those headers look nice. I hope you post a video of the engine running.

Re: Automotive primers

Rattle-can primer is good for temporary use. But when you get ready for the "real" paint job, you should have it sanded off. They'll have to sand down your temporary paint, anyway. Another alternative would be to use an aerosol spray gun like mentioned above, and get some urethane primer f...

Re: 4-point harness in a Fiero without a cage

I personally would not trust the firewall to hold the force of an impact without some structural support. I noticed that when I installed gas struts on the decklid, the force from the gas struts (which push forward on the decklid hinges with 90 lb of force per side) bends the firewall about 1/8"...

Re: AR Build

Accuracy comes from consistency. If your cartridges have exactly the same amount of powder charge and exactly the same bullet weight, and the barrel vibrates at exactly the same frequency every time you pull the trigger, your weapon should be highly accurate. HOWEVER... You also have to consider the...
