fiero @ approx. 470 crank hp 1g dsm with big 16g at 17psi FD RX7 with streetport and T70 (only about 320whp but the way the turbo spools, it feels like about 450 haha) 240sx with stock RB20DET I'm probably leaving a few out, but those stick out in my mind the most. I love the streetability retained ...

78%..wow! It really makes turbochargers seem inefficient. That's the other thing I've wondered about (kind of off topic) -- how can a turbocharger make SO much more power than an equivalent naturally aspirated engine? The whole thought behind turbocharging is that there is a greater difference in pr...

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I guess the exhaust has to drive the turbine with the same amount of work that I want to get from the compressor. I can increase velocity by going to a smaller housing, but I don't think that I could increase it enough to make up for the lower mass flow...

Why not run an "undersized" turbine?
I feel like I may be overlooking something completely obvious, but I'm trying to figure out what the downfall of having a small turbine side is. My first thought is that it will create too much backpressure in the exhaust, but with a very large wastegate (or two), couldn't backpressure be controlled...

Haha yeah yeah the rust -- don't get me started. Finding a clean chassis is damn near impossible. I just liked Toyota's lineup, and after being under a few clean ones (mainly the MR2 and MKII Supra), I really like how a lot of things were done. It's all kind of quirky and cool. Not to mention, I lov...

Yeah, it's an AE86 -- I don't plan on ever dragging the car, nor do I plan to do any drifting. I'm excited because it has all the things that I like about my older VW's, but it has all the cool stuff that Toyota was doing in the 80's. I am going to build the car up to really enjoy the mountain roads...

IRS vs live axle
What are the benefits and drawbacks of each? I just picked up an older Corolla and it has a live rear axle. I'm considering changing some things around on the rear end anyway, and I'm trying to decide if it would be worth my time to put together an independent rear. What do you guys think? Would a p...

I like the darker green of the first one -- the second one is a little busy. Actually, it's not quite busy, but I don't think it fits well with the way your shop seems to be. If I had a shop, my logo would be extemely understated, as if the products speak for themselves. Flashy stickers and logos al...

Personally, I would rather have the $600 instead of getting the guy fired. On one hand, you want to stop other people from going to the shop so that the same thing doesn't happen to them, but also you personally don't have anything to gain from the kid getting fired. Whatever you choose to do, I def...

Roll Moment
Just a few ideas rolling around in my head -- I've been thinking about calculating center of gravity and the roll center for a McPherson strut assembly. Do you want to make the roll center as close to the center of gravity in order to reduce roll moment? Since the roll center will change during susp...

That makes me feel better haha -- I went last weekend also and was suprised because a bike caught up to me. She :thumbleft: didn't pass me until I got stuck behind a car, though, although she probably could have. I'll try to post up some pictures from this weekend. I had a blast! I need to make a ca...

I had no idea it was impossible for a bike to pull over 1g -- I always assumed it was tougher for them because they don't just change direction like a car does; the rider has to come up from one side and lean back over to the other. It seems to be a much more involved (and time consuming) maneuver t...

Haha thanks guys! Yeah, his mohawk was blue -- I was cruizing pretty slowly and I let him pass, then couldn't hold back and romped on it. I was with him for several turns, but I was out of gas and my car started jerkign and sputtering really badly when accelerating hard out of a turn uphill (go figu...

Me and my roommates took a trip to Deal's Gap (Tail of the Dragon) on Saturday, and managed to snap a few pictures while we were there. We got a video also, but the glare was too bad to make it worth posting. My roommate has a 1.6L 20v in his MR2 (165hp stock from a 1.6L!) -- that car looked like a ...
