I have the Design One kit on my 88. It's not going to give you earth shattering power, but it will make a hell of a difference. My Fiero went from a 16.9 1/4 mile time down to a 14.5. I also did a mild build on a new motor and switched from the Isuzu to a Getrag. If you did a proper intercooler (liq...

I think I am confusing the info Shaun gave me when I built my 2.8 turbo. I'm pretty sure he told me about using the headstuds in the mains and I was thinking they were available from ARP. Now I have a problem. The machine shop has my block and the main studs. I do have the headstuds here, so I'll ge...

I searched 60degreev6.com. One guy said he used normal 60 degree mains, but they were too short for the windage tray. Then he says he got some that were longer, but were too long (no part #s given). Then I searched ARP's site for the (2.8,3.1) mains and couldn't find them, just the rod bolts and hea...

Same motor, slightly better heads, MUCH nicer cam cog design (easy to remove, adjust) Are the heads much different? Will the 93 exhaust manifolds bolt to the 95 heads? My exhaust is all custom made to use 2 rear manifolds. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h241/NemesisFiero/exhaust_exposed_1.jpg ht...

I found 3 motors in my favorite junkyard. One is a 1992, one is a 1993, and the other is a 1995. All are between 130K - 160K miles. The 1993 is missing the upper intake so the motor is probably full of water. The others are complete. $150 pulled for the entire motor minus stater, alt., AC, but inclu...

Didn't see your post Will. I've tried to keep things in order, but failed miserably. Update: I dropped the block off last Thursday and took them the bent rod. They called me today to let me know there is a crack in one of the cylinders... about an inch long. The guy on the phone wasn't sure which cy...

Ok, stupid question. I'm pretty sure I have this right, but just want to make sure. The tabs on the rod bearings are on opposite sides? Like this... http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h241/NemesisFiero/DSC02700.jpg And those tabs on the mains are on the same side? Like this... http://i66.photobucket....

Well, I started working on this pig again. The crank came back from the machine shop. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h241/NemesisFiero/DSC02692.jpg Only needed polishing. This motor must have been running pretty rich. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h241/NemesisFiero/DSC02691.jpg The bearings i...

Whoops.. I forgot to ask if these are any good or not. To me they look hardley broken in, but the concentrated area of wear has me concerned and the scoring on the other. Maybe it's normal... I dunno. And the front timing cover gasket looked fine. I still don't know how the coolant was mixing with t...

Turbo. When did Nemesis ever mention he was going to turbo this thing? Certainly not in this thread. This is something I am thinking about doing. But that is the reason I asked, mostly just curious. As far as the gaskets go, I asked the guy if he had any higher performance gaskets (same thing happe...

I just dropped the heads off to have them cleaned, pressure tested, and checked for flatness. The headgaskets look good except for one area that is a little chewed up. Can't really figure that out, but it doesn't seem to be the problem. One thing that had me worried was the fact that I pulled the he...

This motor was rebuilt last year. Coolant was found in the oil and now I am taking it apart to see what the problem is. The lower intake had a bolt missing and another one was only hand tight. Both of these are the only 2 that go straight down. When I got down to the heads and started to remove the ...
