Re: New V-8 TDC?
My thing is who cares if the heads do outflow LSX heads? We aren't in a displacement limited class. Until the 32v engines can make the power of an LSX, whill weighing less and being physically smaller, it's not in competition. The LSX tops at 505hp without a blower, 638 with one. And the thing fits ...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
How's that for irony?
I know exactly what it's doing, just don't know by how much. Only one way to find out, and that's what I'm doing. So I adjust tune by tune, and see it slowly make progress. But too rich is ok, I can deal with that.

Re: wheel shopping!
Shaun doesn't worry about petty things like wheels. Besides, who needs wheels when your car can be on jack stands for years right shaun?
What year is your car? Offsets changed for 88.

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Put yet another tune on it, haven't had a chance to test it yet though. I'm sure it's still rich. Got a new mirror glass on the way (The other fell off on the highway and broke haha). Also found a pretty bad clutch line leak that's new. It's leaking from a compreason repair fitting I had used. Going...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Honestly I have little idea what you're talking about, I'm not at all versed in tuning. My factory ECU is chipped by Darth, to remove some stuff, account for the manual trans, and account for the 42.5 injectors. It runs very well without the piggyback doing anything. Once boost comes on the piggybac...

Intercooler piping not necessary to start and drive I'd say maybe that's how you do your car, but I don't think you have any of the critical components needed to start and drive completed. That being said, there's no way in hell I'd chance driving without charge piping. First, the air won't be filt...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
I haven't weighed my turbo 3.4, but it is a fatty. I'm not sure how much my turbo kit added, maybe 50? The headers, air filter pipe, charge piping, and the exhaust are actually pretty light (Lighter than their stock counterparts). But add the turbo, intercooler system, 2 additional quarts of oil cap...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
25 mpg might be optimistic for a rich running boosted car that you drive hard. Don't 88s have an 12 gallon tank? Actually 25 is about what this car gets on average (Before I took it apart so that shouldn't change). It only runs rich when I'm on boost and in power enrichment, which isn't very often ...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
I was finally able to get a new sending unit so I spent a few hours getting that put in. In my infinite genius I tested the fuel level sensor before I put it in, and wouldn't you know it the resistance was not moving with the float. So I took it apart and cleaned it which did zero good. Then I decid...

Re: need 97 3.4 Dohc wiring help
Don't use the 3800 schematic. You'll need, err want, 3 things for your wiring. The pinout for the 3.4 DOHC ECU you have, the pinout for the c500 and c203 Fiero connectors, and the schematic for the 3.4 DOHC. I have the C203 and C500 pinouts, and can email them to you, but it'll be a few days. These ...

Motul fluids are the best of the best, it's all I use in my motorcycle. The oil is green, and smells so good. Seriously good smelling oil. And did I mention it's green?

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Finally siphoned the gas out, most of it anyway, and dropped the tank. Sure enough the short hose that bypasses the factory pulsator had become disconnected, probably from the jarring when I went from 400+ whp in 1st gear to 0 when I hit the limiter. I'm going to do my best to find a new sending uni...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Ya really. It's partially my fault. I turn the fuel rail around backward on my install so I could easily run the fuel lines down the passenger side of the engine, as there is way too much crap and heat on the drivers side. Well that puts the fitting underneath the intake manifold unfortunately. Are ...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Ok so I thought it had fuel pressure. Today I turned the ignition on, pump ran for a few seconds as usual, and then I cranked the engine about 5 seconds to check the timing belt. Marks I made on the timing belt were gone, so the belt is spinning. I then went to remove the fuel line to try and empty ...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
I'll look for that decklid plug, however I'm not overly confident I'll find it lol. The 3.4 DOHC had 3 ECU iterations. 91-93 was OBD1 MAP onoy, 94-95 is OBD1.5 MAF only, and 96-97 is OBD2 MAF and MAP. I'm running the 1.5 version, it gives me SFI and a heated O2 sensor with what is essentially an OBD...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Thanks Will for the prompt replies, you've been extremely helpful. Timing belt is tight and centered on the cogs, and looks brand new. I'll check rotation as soon as I get another pair of hands. Noticed something else, and I'm sure I'll catch all kinds of shit for this, but oh well. The 4-pin connec...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
I cranked it for a good 20 seconds with the throttle wide open, not even a pop. It's now sat overnight, and still does the same thing, doesn't even try to start. It's MAF only, but the only place it's getting un-metered air is via the PCV line, so breather goes from inlet tube pre turbo and MAF, to ...

Re: Series inspired me, taking my turbo 3.4 to the track
Interesting, sounds like the exact problem I'm having. After pumping the pedal several times it makes contact and brakes as normal, but then the piston retracts again and I'm back to not making contact until the floor. I'll adjust them for now, since I hardly ever drive the car I don't go through pa...
