Re: Airbox help?
As I recall, bubbajoe modified some Datsun 240Z air cleaners to fit over his 8 carbs. Could work for you as well.

Re: Supreme Court makes pernicious, absurd ridiculous decision
Doubtful, since it was the court's conservative bloc that wrote the majority opinion.Blue Shift wrote:I guess this is that "Change" and "Hope" we've all been hearing about?

Re: Government stupidity
Again you miss. Try it this way: If Joe Fastback86 Smith has a Fiero and a Caddy Northstar, and turns the Caddy in under C4C, then he's got a new car and a polluting old Fiero. If the Fiero's engine cracks the block (the 2.5s do this) then Joe Fastback86 Smith isn't gonna let the Fiero go get crush...

Re: Government stupidity
1) Wasn't that the entire POINT of this thread? I'm pretty sure this whole debate started over people complaining that they couldn't get good junkyard engines anymore because of C4C. If my assumption is faulty and it's based on that original assumption, then the original assumption must be faulty a...

Fastback86 - You know, the thought did cross my mind, and I considered limiting my statement to cases, if any, where few American workers benefit. But I think you're right - few "imports" are really imported at all anymore in this day and age. *If* it helps American workers, I'm more for ...

Re: Government stupidity
The assumption was that if the C4C car's engine was not destroyed, it would be reused. In that case, instead of two dead cars (one from C4C and the other from whatever cause you like), there's only one dead car - the C4C car - because the other's been put back on the road. The faulty assumption is ...

Re: Government stupidity
When a C4C car is removed from the road, that vehicle will never run again under it's own power. If they plasma torched key structural chassis points (hopefully nothing saleable), or yanked out the VIN and blacklisted it, making it impossible to register, then so be it. VA, and I assume other state...

Re: Government stupidity
The idea is to get old vehicles off the road, not keep other old vehicles on. The engines ARE the problem. So once the vehicle's in a salvage yard, why does the engine have to be destroyed? The vehicle is already off the road. The glut of engines in good condition would drive prices down and make i...

Re: Government stupidity
You don't get it. These engines are not the problem. The problem is that they're installed in heavy vehicles. These engines are much cleaner than the engines from older Camaros and Mustangs, Supras and 300ZXs, and if not ruined, could be installed in these beloved classics to clean them up. Far bet...

Re: Government stupidity
Either way, I think both sides could have gotten what they want out of it by not mandating the destruction of the engine. A solution could be found to satisfy the powers that be that the vehicle will be disassembled for parts (and not returned to the road) without needlessly ruining the most valuab...

I see that dog eyeing my rear again... I guess it liked what it had last time, lol. That thing is pretty awesome... I would totally get one as well... What sort of price range do they typically go for? Umm, did you just make a reference to taking it in the back door from a German Sheppard? Not some...

Don't know how things are where he lives, but around here, the UPS workers union is as strong as they come according to friends who used to work for them. One woman has been fired 7 times and every time the union got her job back. Normally, I'd say that makes the union too strong, but in this case, ...

Saw it in person, bitch move by the Porsche driver. He even said in a post-race interview that he was pissed about the little bump he got coming into the last corner and wasn't about to lose. Driving your opponent into the wall isn't winning, this is a road race not a destruction derby (or Nascar). ...

Re: starting my 5.3 with pics
Looks good. Interference between the motor and the decklid hinge is a common problem in engine swaps. You may be able to trim enough off to make it fit, but I don't know how much space you need. If you need to cut away a large amount of the hinge and the bracket its bolted to, you'll need to remove ...

I love that he defends his 90-year-old-grandmother driving style in the comments as "proper driving technique." Yeah, if you're on your way to pick up your dentures. Find me a professional driving instructor that will honestly say that his awesome 11 and 1 hand position is "proper dri...

Re: Emissions: NOX just a little too high
Third time's a charm. I've been driving it regularly since I remembered I needed to get it smogged and I dropped some Chevron fuel system cleaner in there and topped it off with premium, then took a long drive to get the cat good and lit off and it passed well under the limit. Funny story, the Check...
