you can get some pretty damn strong bolts made... And that's a good enough solution for most applications. The slanted caps can probably be made stronger, but I bet they would really need to be designed properly. I would expect the load paths to be a lot more complicated. It's only when the engine ...

I figure the pistons are just so much heavier that they put more inertial load on the rods even at much lower RPMs.
The slanted caps are interesting though. I think they'd have to be pretty intensely engineered to have them outperform an existing rod. Ie. not gonna happen for a 2.8 :P

Another plug for AVG. I've been using it for several years with no problems. All our computers at work use it too. The corporate version or something, I think it's about the same though.

That filler looks pretty nice, but why the hell don't those ever have mounting lugs or anything? Do people seriously put inline fillers just hanging there by rad hoses? That would feel awful every time you took the cap off, you'd feel it flexing, plus it looks stupid... Pet peeve I guess, I just (st...

Not at all; my method measures the gas actually USED. Filling until "click" just means that you're putting as much fuel as you can in the tank without (in theory) over-filling and soaking down your vapor canister (which skews your mileage--or so I hear). Larger sample = more accurate aver...

You've got that backwards. The pump doesn't always click off at the same point, that's where the innacuracy comes from. Although.. I'm sure your actual mileage will vary by more than the factor of error anyways. Either way, the more data points, the better.

for 2 dollars less I would go with the select cable from WCF, no mods necessary just bolt it in  Is there something wrong with the WCF ones? Or something special about these aftermarket ones? .01 inches of play per foot sounds standard, and snap strength is meaningless. Is it because they'...

That is interesting, care to comment Series? Is it just cause your original overflow was falling apart and you never used the washer fluid? Or was it something to do with airflow?

Can't help you at all, but I love the sounds of that process! Excuse my semi-related tangent, but I'm curious about something.. There's probably an extrusion in somebody's catalog that would work great. AMC Eagles have extruded aluminum bumpers. Not that the stock steel impact beams are *that* heavy. If anybody's getting serious about any of this, check out trailer crossmembers. I work for a shipping company, and some of th...

I've noticed that finding greasable rod ends for racing applications is rather tough. If you're having a hard time finding any, rod ends used on hydraulic equipment usually have a grease fitting on them. Maybe you could be looking down that alley too. I've no idea what sort of engineering data is av...

I like the rear glass though. Did the finale kit come like that or was it custom? The rest of the design is still pretty tacky, but it probably looked ok ten years ago.
