Basically, blocking the EGR passage will cause your MIL to light on the highway when the computer realizes that the EGR is not working. Whats a MIL? Make plates for the intake to block off the egr. Thanks guys. Got it installed and started now gonna work on the timing. Out of curiousity when i disassembled the dist, gear, shaft, coil, etc does it matter how that is all reassembled or is the timing all about getting the #1 piston to TDC and pointing the rotor to the #1 wire on the tower?

Egr tube huh? Let me check that one out. Car hasnt been started and ran for a long time. Can the cat convt be the problem or am i wasting my time there?

Red Hot Exhaust

Alright, got the fiero running today and the both exhaust manifolds became red hot in a matter of minutes! So far i have heard possibly a clogged cat. Im going to unhook the exhaust and see if the problem persist. If it does then i know its not the cat if it doesnt does any one have any other sugges...

Timing... Distributor...

So i took out the distributor and my idiot uhh i mean friend cleaned it off including my timing marks! How do i re assemble it without knowing the timing? Please help.

I dont' think anyone has put the 284 in successfully. I remember reading a thread on it where one guy was doing it, but its was a bit of work and not sure if he ever got it working.. Probably more then you want to attempt right now Just use the 5 spd that is in your fiero now. That one will work go...
