crzyone wrote:Trunk is comming along. This fuel cell will do for this year but next winter I will buy a fuel cell with a bladder to meet racing rules. I don't want ot cut the floor of my car until that happens so it is mounted a bit high for now.

Should have some new pics in a few days.
Can't look at the pics at work...

Does the Skyline have a spare tire well in the trunk? Have a round fuel cell made to drop in.

Not a bad idea but I would like to mount the tank even lower than that. Factory fuel tank is mounted under the trunk floor.

Holes drilled for fuel feed, return and fuel cell vent

Some fresh paint. Looks 100x better than the dirty silver color. Should be a show trunk when it's done, the cell, lines, pump and filters should "pop" against the black.

So it turns out the fuel pump I have is a marine Aeromotive A1000 which has a -12 inlet and -10 outlet that supports 1100 boosted hp or 1600 naturally aspirated... I think I will sell it and get a pair of smaller pumps. I just don't want the fuel heating issues that comes with a pump that is too large.

Cell is from Summit Racing. 20 gal sumped, vented, foam filled and has a 0-90ohm fuel level sender.

Looks like they are even on sale right now

You'll have to let us know what you think of the GloShift gauges. I was going to go with them, but decided on Prosports instead.

I think they will be good. Glow shift has their own forum on their website if you have issues or yo can read other posts. Kind of nice to have that.

Your thread makes me want to just go start ripping out useless shit from the Talon. The 'racecar' look is not only functional, but looks badass as well. (insert thumbs up smiley here)

Thanks, that's what I'm going for. When I get the car back the interior will be gutted and all sound deadening will be removed. Then a cage, racing seat and a harness.

The Hicas (all wheel steering) is also going to be removed. This is the whole system removed on another car-

Image

Between fluid, lines rear rack and other parts it's about a 45lb weight savings. I already removed the A/C which was atleast another 40lbs saved.

I would love to get the car below 3000lbs.

Racing school is on May 2/3 so that will be my first big track day.

It's an HKS oil filter relocation with a temp controlled oil cooler bypass. It's nice, comes with an oil pressure and oil temp sensor points on it. Handy for running my aftermerket guages.

check out http://sealsit.com/firewall.asp for some great pass through rubber seals that are fire retardant. You can even get 2 piece units so you dont have to remove the lines, and put them back through. $15-20 each.

A couple of kids around here have them to. I like them. A lot of fun to ride in to. Its a real funny look you get when you get pulled over and the cops at your window.

I read your post on Old Europe. Big difference between a GTS and a GTR. If you get a chance, get a ride in a GTR around some fast corners to see where it shines.

So many problems to fix on this car. Martin is ready to hunt down and kill everyone at Subracing for their shoddy work.

Where should I start... Missing starter bolt, missing transmission to engine bolts, missing front driveshaft bolts, broken shifter fork (which required dropping the transmission to fix), rear turbo oil feed line not installed properly, vaccuum lines not plugged on bottom of plenum, missing subframe bolt, blah blah blah... This build has been delayed quite a bit with these problems.

On the plus side, oil lines are on and motor has been primed. Makes good oil pressure. Guages are done. Car is basically ready to fire up except for some reason the hand held commander for the ECU doesn't want to work. They are waiting for everything to check out before firing it up for the first time. Should happen tonight or tomorrow if they can narrow down the problem.

Anyways, here are some pics

Oil cooler installed (those massive scoops everywhere are actually functional!)
Image

25mm wheel spacers installed, good fitment on the front, might need more on the rear

I need a lift in my garage...

Finished engine bay

All lit up. Can choose 7 different colors
Image

Found a pipe cleaner in the heater hose!!! Good work subracing....
Image

Said they found a hairline crack on the weld. Not sure what to do abou that now. Can't see it in this pic
Image

Anyways, in a few days I should be able to update again if it runs or not. Martin is doing excellent work fixing all of Subracing's mistakes.
