Zinc plating

Post by bryson »

Have any of you sent bolts and random hardware off to have it zinc plated or something similar? I have tons of cam tower bolts, and they all look like crap. I would really like to clean up a set and have them zinc plated -- I think nice shiny bolts with a zinc color (havent decided on the reddish one or the bluish one) would look great on cam towers that have a nice coat of aluminum paint on them. Any experiences? I looked into buying the stuff to do it myself, but I can't justify the cost because I won't be doing a whole lot of stuff. TIA

Eastwood company sells a 3 part kit to duplicate that finish (gold iridite?).

They also sell a zinc plating kit that looks pretty cool. Never used either product though.

Powder coating is cheap. A place by me will do it for $1.00 a bolt. You an get some pretty wild two stage finishes too.
