Well,
I'm going to be separated from my car for awhile and I said to myself
self:
You need to get rid of the nixon-era edelbrock quadratoilet.
I've got a dual TB manifold I bought on ebay that I want to use, but I don't like the GM ecm driving the jumped-together FI. It's an old Turbo City setup. They really suck by the way. They kept asking me for increasingly ridiculous pieces of information trying to get me to go away. A google search turned up warnings about them, my experience with them was bad too.
There's pictures of it here:
phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2474&postdays=0&p ... c&start=20
That got me started down the megasquirt path. Any recommendations on vendors? I want to buy all the crap I need and take it out west with me to work on. If I'm understanding the documentation, they sell 'stubs' for all of the sensors and injectors so I can work away from the car.
If I'm reading the instructions correctly, I can fire each injector whenever I want. In the end, I'll probably just want to fire two at a time (there's a total of 4.
In a nutshell, I'm looking for:
1) What to buy
2) Who from.

oh gawwwd! Save yourself!!
Take this for what it's worth... but here's what I think you should do.
Buy a 1227749 (or 30? I can investigate) for $50.
Install the low-Z mod to cover your 4 TBI injectors. $10
Pay Sinister $45 to tune it.
Done.
:la:
I can even do the mod for you if you cover shipping and all that crap.

I bought my unit from

You need to decide if you want to go with MS II or MS I, you can start reading everything you want to know here
http://www.megasquirt.info/v22manual/mtabcon.htm
MS II has the ability to control a stepper IAC and also has the ability to expand via the GPIO board, and the router board.
http://www.megasquirt.info/gpio/
http://www.megasquirt.info/router/
MS I has a lot of options also implemented, boost control, nitrous contorl, and several other things.
Both units only have two injector drivers so they can run multi port injection but cant do sequential injection. As soon as the router board is finished MS II will be able to run sequential.
I also suggest joining the forum

If you have any other questions I will do my best to answer them :thumbleft:

They sell pre-modded GM ECM's that can handle multiple peak/hold injectors, just like your setup.
And the program is much more comprehensive than Megasquirt's.

You can built it with out having access to your car.
They offer a Stimulator board that you can use to test it as you build it.

Sup y'all. If you like to tinker, and/or want to make sure your tuning is perfect, you'll love MS. I've MS'd two Volvos at this point--did it at first because there was no other option really--and will never go back to something that isn't a complete EMS.
There's a bunch of options, in a nutshell, MS2 is nice because it has some extra resolution and IAC stepper control. Unfortunately, the code everyone (myself included) used up to MS2, MSnS-Extra, hasn't been ported over yet. So basically, an MS1 setup with MSnS-E will give you the most features. You may be able to work something out for spark with MS2's wheel decoder, or some other method, but MSnS-E can do GM DIS, Ford EDIS, any old wheel decoder, hall sensors, etc.
In any case, you want a V3 board kit--you can always upgrade to MS2 down the road just by swapping the chip, so there's no real reason you have to decide what to run right now. Any ol' MS can control anything with fuel injectors, and both can be made to control spark on your basic GM motor. So choose on features.
MS2: info, http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/index.htm
MSnS-E info: http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/
agreed on diyautotune-- nice place to buy kits
the learning curve can be steep, but it's totally worth it
Also, you guys have strange smilies.

That's a sick looking brick, and everyone here agrees that Aawrong is a shithead. Welcome to our Forum. Would you mind putting a thread on your wagon in the "Other Cars" forum? I've alwys been impressed with Volvo turbos modded out. They're just cool.

For those of you who havn't already, check out the Engine pics page on his WWW.
Holy shit, look at that header. Thats pretty sweet, a turbo inline DOHC 6. That's sweet. And damn, that header :salute: :salute: :salute:
I must say, something needs to be done about the intake manifold. Hmmm, some independent throttle bodies would fit nicely...

A friend of mine is into turbo Volvos... he's building a DOHC turbo 4 for a Bertone coupe and will be running a T3/T4 hybrid.
Nice brick.
What kind of 6 is that?
He already has the car running MS. It's a nice enough setup for what it is, but its virtue is in its simplicity.
I still think that GM based engine management is the way to go, where feasible.

Can you guys take a look at www.dynamicefi.com and give me your opinion on the EBL setup? I can decide if it's worth it. I'm looking at around $225 for the full setup, or just $85 for the injector mod.The Dark Side of Will wrote:Check out www.dynamicefi.com

If history proves itself true, this caveat won't stop it, but just in case: If you don't know what you're talking about, don't bother; I won't listen to you anyway. You know who you are, and everyone else does too.
(it's a b6304 sorta. The block is a b6284t, the head is a b6304 unit, and I'm convincing them to work with eachother. dohc 2.
Keep in mind with MS, you get a lot of fun features that a stockish ECU won't do--spark cut launch control and rev limiting is one loud and entertaining example, and wideband AFR target tables is a more useful and handy one.

I know the guy that built the EBL, he's like Jesus of the ECM world.MNFatz wrote: Can you guys take a look at www.dynamicefi.com and give me your opinion on the EBL setup? I can decide if it's worth it. I'm looking at around $225 for the full setup, or just $85 for the injector mod.
The EBL is like Megasquirt with all the GM code. I think it even supports 8192 baud coms, so you're golden for datalogging.
