Too bad I already bought the Moates part :-(

It's never too late to swiiiiitch... ;)

You can even install a ZIF, which I don't think moates even offers.

It lets you put a re-programmable chip into a GM computer without unsoldering the factory chip from the factory carrier (the green & brown thing in the third pic).

Exactly ^^^

So you can burn your own chips without desoldering the stock chip... and you can go back to stock just by unplugging it.

really? he offers his board with a ZIF? How much did that run?

oh... K

now if only i knew how to "burn chips" it would prolly come in handy for when i throw the turbo stuff on the DOHC? and to change it to manual trans rather then auto?

I dont think i'll ever understand the electical/computer portion of an automobile

yeah - its a learning process.. you'd need a memcal adaptor and something like an ostrich from moates

he just sells ZIFs that you can plug into the board. i think it was like $35 for the board and $5 or $10 for the ZIF. quite ridiculous if you ask me but i was in a hurry and had lots of money (at the time..)
