Hah. Swweeeet. I haven't seen 25, but I drove 198 in a rented Cobalt when I was in that part of the country in January. That is an awesome road, but there were a LOT of black marks leading right off the pavement...Series8217 wrote:Heh heh. No. That was partway down the hill I think. I'll ask my dad though (he took the pic). I think you'd be able to see the fence I went over. I think he took the one you're talking about you could see the hill that I hit from the road (you can't see it in the one we did take from the road.) If I had missed that hill I would have sailed all the way down into the next canyon below and certainly wouldn't be typing the message. Might still be down there. Is the first picture taken from the point at which you left the pavement?
The people who stopped said they saw a huge cloud of dust and thought it was fog, and then saw the skidmarks.
Here's a pic from the road:

That small silver and black speck is my car. I put the higher resolution version of this pic is on the gallery I linked to above.

I wasn't arguing, I was making a joke. I like the skyline. I don't want one, I want a m3, but i like the car.Series8217 wrote:You and Trevor.crzyone wrote:How the hell did this turn into a fiero vs skyline thread?
I was just making the point that faster and better handling cars are NOT safer

How far did you guys get with stripping down the car after I left? There wasn't all that much left, and it shoulda gone pretty quick once Chris got the torch out. Did you figure out if the engine and trans are for sure good?
Post up pics of some of the stuff that got royally fucked up, it was pretty impressive.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
We got the motor out today; the front cover is cracked in a few places so I'm going to have to replace it. Also, one of the bosses on the front of the block for one of my mounts broke off, but its not at all critical. The front mount twisted into the oil pan so the pan gasket is weeping now, but I have another gasket, and I needed another pan anyway because the drain plug threads are nearly striped out.
We got the car stripped down to a bare frame with fuel tank; I'm going to take it out when I get back from winter break so I can reuse the fuel pump in my next car, and then the rest is off to the scrap yard.
Yeah, the winch truck pulled the car up to the road and the flatbed brought it back to my house. The towing bill was over $1k !stimpy wrote:So how did they get it home? Did they bring a flatbed, too?

Feeling better, actually.. my headache is gone and my neck doesn't feel sore anymore. Still pretty tired though.BigRedDeckSpoiler wrote: Now that a couple have days have passed, are you still feeling okay?
