Which loctite?

Post by Red »

OK, kidz-

Which loctite should I be using on flywheel bolts? I've seen some say blue, and some say red. I'm guessing that either is fine, but does anyone have any strong thoughts one way or another?

I use red, just because I do not want them ever coming off unless I am taking them off.
A good 3/8 impact wrench will break them free, if not, a little heat and a nice smack in the middle with a punch will break the loctite bond.

I personally use red - cuz as teamsleep says, you really don't want something storing the kinetic energy of a big bore magnum hunting rifle bullet coming free.

I've had to mount and unmount mine a couple times, and removing it wasn't a problem at all - use a good socket and a breaker bar, and it'll come right out.

blue is plenty to prevent them working lose as long as they were torqued properly.
