BMW E30 questions (Best BMW forum)?

Post by The Dark Side of Will »

I've got ideas for an E30 BMW... Specifically putting M3 fender flares on a 325iX.

What's a good BMW forum on which to ask these and other very specific questions about this swap?

Both M3 and 325iX were available in both coupe and sedan, right? Or was the M3 only a coupe?

If it was available as either, are the rear fender flares the same?

I assume that M3 front fenders will just bolt on to any E30?

What size wheels did the M3 have? What's the biggest that will fit under those flares?

Are there bigger, meaner aftermarket flares available?

I'll answer what I can. The M3 was only a coupe, but the iX is either coupe or sedan. I can look at part numbers tomorrow to see if coupe and sedan fenders are interchangeable. As far as aftermarket flares go, they are out there, but are add-ons to the fender, not the whole fender, like the M3. I can't remember if they came with 15" or 16" wheels. I know that 17" will fit, usually with spacers though. A good resource is here: http://e30m3performance.com/

Ok, so I'll need a 325iX coupe...

It looks like there's a lot to read on that site. Thanks.

It doesn't look like there's a forum there, though.

What's the relationship of aftermarket flares to M3 fenders?

E30 stuff? Definitely check out this forum:
http://www.s14.net/forums/
It's very active and almost exclusively E30 M3 related. (S14 is the engine code for the E30 M3's 4-cylinder)

If you need the warranty history pulled on a car, send me the last seven digits of the VIN. BMW puts lemon law'ed cars back into service as CPO cars.

whats the cpo? and also whats the dinan software? does it take my speed limiter away? because I have been told this car cuts out at 155 electronicly, but I have hit 160mph and let off. hadn't hit fuel cut yet, but just figured my speedo was off maybe.

man I2 is gonna run me 1600 bucks plus whatever they find wrong. guess I better get it in the shop this week or next, and have them do that while they fix my bumper.

CPO=Certified Pre-Owned warranty. Covers a good amount of stuff, no trim or radio stuff though. $50 deductible/visit. Dinan software probably removes the cut-off, but I have not had a customer's car up that fast yet :thumbleft: If you want a Florida vacation, I can do the I2 for at least half that.

I'll get it for you tomorrow. Sorry for high-jacking the thread, Will. Back to the E30! I should have a confirmation on fender availability tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay, work has been a bitch. Sedan fenders and coupe fenders are the same, same part number that is. As far as M3 fenders, I don't know if any of the bracketry is different, but they should fit a sedan. M3 fenders are still available from BMW, for around $275 each. I can get part numbers if needed.

That's not a bad price.
That's actually a surprisingly good price considering it's for a BMW with cult status...
