5300 is lower than stock, so it's probably 6300. They definitely know better than I do!

Didn't know it was 3/8". That's pretty thick. I'm more concerned about a fatigue failure. Keep an eye on it for cracking.

I am going to the shop this weekend to work on those a-arms and weld the exhaust on my 88. Since I have the welder I think I will probably throw a gusset on there anyways. I got a donor pair of a-arms and I think I can cut the sleeves out and pound them into the powdercoated a-arms and then pop in my poly bushings.

I broke one of the idlers, so I bought a new one and put 2 new belts on


I got another set of A-arms, knocked the bushings out ( saved the sleeves lol) and took the ball joints out. I'll snap pics when I paint them and put the poly and ball joints in.

What can I grease my poly bushings with? Is there anything that I can get at a store that will work? I know prothane makes specific grease for their poly but its $12 shipped for 3 like 1oz tubes of the stuff.

I use synthetic grease, I forget what brand I use, it's a silver tube and the grease is clear / white. It's not as thick and heavy as prothane's grease, but it does the job and I haven't yet had any complaints of customers car's suspension squeaking with it.

A regular sized " lube tube" is only about 12 bux and lasts a couple years.

EDIT: just did a little Google search, it's Super Lube silicone lubricating grease

Also been using it on caliper sliders, distributer o-rings etc with great results too.

The motor getting ready to go back in, I need to buy some axle stuff. Anyone know where I can buy the SQUEEZE TYPE CV CLAMPS.

I believe I can get squeeze CV clamps at any automotive store around here; Advance has them, NAPA, and I'm sure Autozone. I don't know what your venue is there, but I'd just start calling around.

I got mine back in the car last night. There was a dime sized hole in the front header.... Guessing it's a hot spot from fuel pooling. :sigh:

All the places around here want to sell the HELP! Speed-Boot clamps. The ones you pull through, crank down, flip over, and pound down. The only time I have gotten the squeeze type ones was at advance in a complete re-booting kit.

I personally use normal worm clamps from Home Depot. But you have to make sure they will clear the transmission when you put them on.

I tried it, I don't personally like the way they work, and the clearance is too close for my liking the way my trans is mounted. I will try to order some of the squeeze type clamps.

3/8 mild steel will hold all you have, but the cradle itself isn't 3/8, so I'd worry more about that.

Gussets on the cradle extension and L bracket make me pretty bulletproof. Since I am running all rubber mounts that should prevent me from pulling a V8archie cradle cracking maneuver. I am pretty happy with my mounts, the motor has zero play in it, even without the dogbone.

I had worm clamps on my cv boots and they hit the cradle and sheared off on the drivers side. FYI. I had work rubber mounts but a lot less HP than you.

I am not going to use worm clamps, like I said, I did it once, not a fan. I will call around today to try to get squeeze type CV band. I am going to need a 5speed inner tulip to build my axles, can't remember which one I need, I have one in my basement I need to go see which one it is. IIRC I need the Passenger side (male) tulip. Anyone got one? I will pay for it obviously.

All Fiero manual transaxle inner and outer CV joints are the same regardless of years or sides.

Stick is what I meant, sorry, my car has me thinking 5speed. Yeah I just need stick tulips.

I just checked, it is the drivers side I need (female). I'll post in the mall.

You need one from an automatic transaxle then, drivers side.
