If it were my motor (which it's not) and if I were building it (which I'm not), I'd go a somewhat unconventional route. I would set that motor up basically stock, and it would be cool if you could come up with that ugly prototype intake that Shaun and Jon had (I don't remember if you have one of these or not). Basically build a restored prototype motor, not a hot rod.

For the hot rod engine keep your ear to the ground for a bowtie block. Then make it work with the DOHC heads if you're incredibly determined, or use the best (Gen 3?) aluminum pushrod heads. Basically what Shaun did, or may do if he ever gets his ass in gear, or something like that. :blah5: I can't remember the status on this.

Yes, it is quite easy to sit in front of my computer and spend other people's money. It's fun, too.

I want to spend his money!

If I were you, I'd say screw it. It's worthless. Just sell it. V6s aren't anything. Just go buy an V8Archie V8 kit, spend $7,000, and run 14s. THat is better than any V6 will ever do, plus your new V8 Fiero won't handle worth a shit!

2 seperate purchases.

if you mean the motor, its a 93. the car is an 86 i posted pics in non tech. unde "bought number 4".

the car is gonna be resold stock, the motor is gonna help me determine if i can dohc my al. block.

I did put the moptor back in my car tonight, probbably have it running again tomorrow.

ps. im holding the baby in the other arm, so capitalization is tough.

Well good luck, if you can mate the DOHC to the motor, you have the basis for one kickass V6, period.

Huh.

I'm analyzing.

Not exactly my choice of paint schemes, I think it could have been pulled off a lot better if everything else was black, and not grey/brown, but it looks ok.

I hope in the future you can build that motor out to what in my mind is "what it deserves." They were made to be prototype race engines, and I guess I feel they should be built that way, without stock intakes/exhaust manifolds, etc. I mean its your motor, do whatever you want with it, and I hope you enjoy it, but I guess I would've taken another route, that costs a lot more, but would be well worth it.

It just looks so stock..

I look forward to reading how it runs, and how the weight drop affects the car though, and I seriously hope you like it!

yeah uhhh the rest of the engine bay got prepped as far as everything that could be removed did get removed, but as far as painting and cleaning, well thats not for this car. If the car was un hacked, and undamaged I would try to make some time for cleaning up the engine bay, but basically I ran out of time and just put the motor back in to get it out of the shop b4 I left for school. The lesson on the intakes is if your gonna do a flame paint job, do it, but dont try a flame powdercoat job. That intake wont be on it when the dohc heads go on hopefully, so dont worry about it lasting. here is a pic of a anodized blue over near chrome that looked ten times better than in the pics, somebody on Old Europe bought it. It actually changes colors depending on the angle oyu look at it, but the flash on the camera just makes it look blue.

Yah I understand the whole thing with school and such, been in that situation myself a couple times.

About the DOHC plenum, I'm normally not one for the painted DOHC intakes, but that one looks pretty good. If you do one for yourself, sand down all the casting marks in the back if it, that'll help a lot!

That intake, with a chrome rear valve cover, would look pretty sweet!

How is your engine running?

its running enough to get it out of the garage and up and down the road. The timing isnt set perfect yet, so I had the egr sel. line off the intake to give it a little more air to allow me to keep my foot off the gas when not in the car. Simple timing issue, but I havent spent any time on it since I got it running. Ive got soooooo much shit on my plate its not funny. The 2 days I get at home/ week are devoted to family time. Not till christmas break or thanksgiving (not so likely) will it get loved. by then Ill have the dohc at the shop and be playing with that.

consider this thread dead for 2-3 months.
