so carillo rods for $300 for a set or Cat types for $150?

Or is it $50 for all 6? Are these 60 degree rods or are the SBC rods? I can only guess they are the small journal?

From GM's 60V6 power manual:

"One important difference between V6/60 and smallblock V8 connecting rods is the diameter of their wrist pin holes. V6 rods have .912-inch diameter pin bores; V8 rods have .927-inch wrist pin holes. In order to use V8 rods with stock or heavy-duty Chevrolet V6/60 pistons, the small ends of the rods must be bushed to fit the V6 wrist pins. (If aftermarket pistons are ordered with .927-inch diameter wrist pins, the small-block rods will not require bushings.) The big ends of the V8 rods must also be narrowed from .940-inch wide to .854-inch wide to fit the V6/60 crankshaft journals. Machine .086-inch off the side of the big end bore which is next to the crankshaft cheek in a V8 installation. Then machine new bearing tang notches in the rod, taking care to center the bearing insert on the rod journal."

From the sounds of it, the V8 rods may be off-center due to the fact that they share a journal, i.e. the side facing the crankshaft cheek is thicker. I guess with the piston floating on the pin it doesnt really matter as there is plenty of side clearance for it to move around to fit though.

Hey sorry guys that I've not been on here to for these things. I got looking into the costs and then I had issues with the transmission going out on one of my talon's. argh.. Just been fucking buisy and then went to mexico for a wedding.

Not to mention I started looking in depth what I'm going to be doing with this new motor. For now I'm only sticking with 5.7 inch rods. I found an off the shelf piston that works for a 2.99 inch stroke and 5.7 inch rods and the bore I'm working with. 20$ per piston instead of Custom ordered 500$ or so is fine by me.

We'll push the limits of what a stock rod with arp's and some beam polishing can do.

Again sorry for not getting back to you on this. Comepletely forgot with the mexico trip coming up and then xmas things getting out of hand here.

Different bore, Cast Hyperutectics. I don't need forged. Just staying NA. Its from a completely different application.

I found these. I did some research into BME al rods and many guys swear by them and the company says they will last as long as steel rods.
