Ok, don't even get me started on gun control.

Gun control is a farce. I won't bring up specifics, but I live in California, home of some of the the toughest, and nonsensical gun laws in the nation. Anti gun politicians thrive by playing on the fears of people who are unfamiliar with guns aside from bad press, and have absolutely no knowledge or education on the topic. They label perfectly legal firearms that look cool as "assault weapons", and implying (falsely and blatantly) to the ignorant that they are fully automatic like their military counterparts. Never mind that hundreds of models of sporting rifles are functionally identical, looks or lineage aside. Never mind that the NFA of 1934 banned automatic weapons already. Machine guns baa-a-a-a-ad, right? They pass nuissance laws forcing firearms makers to incorporate useless "safeties" that don't just make people more reliant on mechanical safeties (the *only* real safety is your brain), but it also forces gun makers to stop and change everything to satisfy just one state, as nobody else wants that useless shit in their guns anywhere else. HOW COULD YOU NOT DO IT!? OMFG THINK OF THE CHILDREN!! The lies, deception, and wholesale taking advantage of the ignorant (who also happen to vote) is disgsting and a direct slap in the face to anybody with a brain in general. You see the same thing happen with "electric cars" and "hydrogen" and all this other feel good flavor of the month politics.

So I live in this liberal, anti gun state, yeah? Yet many convicted felons I've spoken to has more guns, that they got for cheaper than any legal gun owner I know, spare a couple big time collectors. Some of you guys have NO IDEA just HOW EASY it is to obtain illegal firearms compared to going through the long, annoying, and patience testing process of legally buying one. More than a couple legal gun owners I've known have resorted to black market shopping simply due to the ease and lack of waiting period involved. Why? Because they're impatient, and don't like being given "permission" to do what they want. What have these guys been doing with illegal guns? Maybe having one without bending over and submitting your name, SSN, and address to the government to keep tabs on them smacks of freedom? After all, what good does keeping and bearing a few, limited firearms do to deter a tyrannical government from forming when they already have a list of potential problem people and their collections in their playbook? And to top it all off, do you know what these good gun owners turned dirty have been up to with these blackmarket guns? Punching paper, tin cans, and rocks! I can assure you that's what they'll likely live out the rest of their lives doing.

But what about the cops? The government? They'll protect us, right? As much as A-rod blindly stands up for them, we're talking 3 minute response time, on average - if they feel that your emergency is important enough. In my town, repeated threatening letters and items left on my teenage sisters car by a middle age stalker/pervert wasn't enough to warrant even an investigation, I shit you not. We were told "you might as well just throw it all away, we can't do anything about it". In 3 minutes, somebody could walk into your home, shoot you, take what they want, have a beer, check the forecast, and be on their way before the first unit even arrived - provided you even managed to get in a long, noisy 911 call in without interruption. At least here, the police are not required to put their life on the line to defend you. You and whatever is in your hands IS the last word in your fate. You won't find a cellphone in mine.

Gun control would be a joke if it weren't so dangerous to the law abiding...

thats what i've been saying all along - its easier to get a gun illegally than legally.. so what good does gun control really serve other than to prevent amercans from being able to defend themselves from those that would choose to harm them or enslave them

if i ever get the chance to get a full size milling machine you can bet i'll try my hand at gunsmithing.
