So I am trying to get on a Graveyard sleep schedule, which means staying up all night tonight. This sucks.

And my laptop battery died last night. Like, what the fuck? How does a laptop battery, that is 1 year old, and has never been unplugged for any appreciable amount of time (Appreciable being over 5 minutes), go dead?

And then, as if it dying wasn't enough, I have to remove it. Otherwise, the computer will randomly shut down every 5-10 minutes. Problem. The battery is structural, and provides a balance point for the computer, so it doesn't rock on the other boobie like bulge on the bottom of the computer. It is also an anti-slip device, with a rubber strip so the computer doesn't slide away. So now my laptop rocks when I type, and runs away from me if I touch it.

Ok this sucks. I'm tired. 0311 and I want to go to bed. I find myself reading the once hysterically amusing Best of Craigslist ads, and, well first of all, not really reading any of them, and secondly, the ones that I do read, not really comprehending or finding even the slightest hint of humor in.

I tried playing Grand Theft Auto. ADD limited that to 10 minutes. I was texting a girl I know, but she went to bed like normal people do.

I thought about reading a book. Revert to earlier description of current reading position.

I tried playing my 10 year old online half life video game. I was getting really pissed because the other dudes were way better than me. They always knew where I was, and killed me the first shot every time. It took me 8 minutes before I realized they were all bots.

*pause for yawn*

Now I'm watching random StreetFire videos.

No, like died as in failed completely, broken, fucked up, no longer serving as a power saving agent. I'm fine with no battery life, this is a desktop replacement anyways. But it won't even work plugged in!

I work midnights for 3.5 years. I always live my days off like a normal human. It just involved a couple days a week of staying up 24-26 hours.

I can do 24 hour days fairly easily.

I've been on shift work since I was 19 and started operating plants.

It doesn't really bother me.

Try doing it when sitting in a control room for 12 hours a night. You will finally understand boredom.

Sit in here by yourself all night...

I think I have it worse than most, I have an hour comute out in the boonies. Leave at around 5:30 and get home around 8. If they didn't pay me well to do it, there is no way I would stay at this job.

Aaron, what job are you doing? Security?

When we trip out to go on alert the drive can be up to 3 hours. Then 24 hours later we come back. But yeah, it'll be interesting to see how my sleep patterns turn out with the weird schedules we have.

No, that'd be nice though. The midnights shifts at McDonald's were hiring at $8/hr, so I'm gonna give that a try.

2am and I'm doing good so far! The girly was nice, so that put me in a good mood. I cruised Youtube for an hour, I think I'm going to head for Top Gear next. Either that or Family Guy.
