88 coupe deck-lid hinges?

Guys, I need someone technical on this...no bullshit.
I'd like to know if the deck-lid hinges on an 88 4cyl coupe are the same hinges for the 86-88GT deck-lid hinges. I know that there was 2 different designs with a thicker or thiner hinge assembly. Just look at Rodney's web-site concerning this. (Its in the section for new hinge straps)
I'm trying to get my 88GT's rear deck-lid to line up with the body, but its is never perfect or stait. I think the bumpers that rests on the rear fastback clip have a usual problem that the rubber bumpers push them selves right through the deck-lid material. I think that GM did quite a shitty design for that part. Something should of been more solid or more durable so when closing the deck-lid you don't have to push down like crazy for it to close. If anyone has repair both sides of the under-part of the deck-lid, tell / explain me how, please.
I seen that the hinges that mount to the chassis, the holes are slotted alittle. Both holes are 3/4 of an inch. You can probably move the hinge 1/4 inch up or down. (the stud is about 1/4 inch big in diameter) So there is some gap to play with.
Plus my trunk seal is getting chewed up because of the deck-lid upper latch is somehow rubbing the seal. Can't getting it to line up, plus the trunk seal is getting a beating. I was thinking on trying to remove the seal and see if the deck-lid closes better. BTW, this is a brand new GM deck-lid seal (160$).
I'm thinking if I raise the deck-lid hinges higher, maybe the "rear" end will compensate for the front height, so the deck-lid will close easier.
Anyone have this problem / or any suggestions??
Thanks,
