Dunno what smoked me, please help

So this morning, I was in front at a red light, sitting in the '06 Sierra 1500, with nothing in the bed. Beside me pulls up a dark red, early to mid '90s looking 4 door Chevy front wheel drive. Tall, skinny tires, factory hub caps, it's not an LTZ or Z34 or anything, and then the light changes. I get the jump, and get away clean, with no wheelspin. Thin this thing just kills me!
I've killed 3800-IIs with this truck, and I've killed 3.4 Twin Dual Cams. So I'm wondering if the L67 fits under those hoods? Anyone know for sure? Or does the LS4 fit in those cars? I tried to chase him down so I could ask what he had, but then I saw a cop and turned off. I hope he got a ticket.

A L67 isn't much quicker than a 3.4 DOHC, so it wasn't one of those. And I don't think a LS4 would have beat you up that badly.

I have a 4.3 / 4L60E combo, with porting, a cam, and a torque converter. So I'm nowhere near an LS4, at 303 HP, but 240 HP, I could be there, tho my truck is heavier and has more aero drag. I'm cammed for torque, a cam I designed myself and had COMP grind for me.

Find a pic of the type of car...

And obviously something like an L67 could be modded.

Maybe you ran into one of the three ASG Luminas on the road.

I'm convinced of what the L67 can be made to do, but was wondering if the extra height of the blower could fit under that hood?

Depends on which hood... Cavalier, Lumina, etc...

I guess Lumina, it sure wasn't a Cavalier, a beretta, a Monte, umm, what else was available? I forget since I never cared about them until I got my Fiero.

No way, those were nothing but 4.9 swaps. They were none faster than the stock 3.4 either.

ASG claimed 300 HP and had a pretty extensive mod list.

The one I saw looked, and performed, like it had 190hp. It was at the 1/4mi when I went in my white Lumina, and I was running quicker. My quickest time was a 14.7, and it was putting like flat 15s. You've seen how hard it is to get the 4.9 to 300hp, they'd need fucking CNC heads, custom cam, headers, etc. It was just all about the torque.

I killed a '90 454ss pickup last night. Those were rated at 230 hp. I figure my long bed and huge front brakes about equals his big block and beefy rear axle, but I might be lighter. I figure aero is a toss-up.

Quad Foursica?

What did the car sound like? Was it loud enough to tell if it was a 4, 6, or 8? They all make pretty distiinctive sounds. That'd narrow it down a bit.

This is what I found
ASG 5.0 Engine Modifications:

* The engine is balanced and blueprinted. This is a process wherein every important tolerance in the engine is optimized to produce maximum power.
* The heads are decked, which helps raise the compression from 9.5:1 to 10.5:1
* Heads are ported and polished
* New, higher performance pistons are used
* New, higher performance fuel injectors are used
* Hardened crank shaft and rods are used
* Cooper retainer ring is embedded into the head to improve head gasket retention under higher compression
* Replacement air box for improved air flow

They claimed peak 285HP and peak 321LB/FT at the flywheel. A 4.9L STS, owned by the companies general manager dyno'ed at 164whp. The kit was $5,543.

Just my internet travels.
