SLP?!!! And what about the lower intake manifold? And the plenum? What headers? Dual-cat? 2.25" or 2.5"? Or single 3"? Who did the heads?
Needs 1.6:1 full-roller rockers.
Should be capable of up to 350 RWHP if you get everything truly perfect.

I will say 300 whp.

For gods sake I hope it doesn't end up like Boomtastics 383 TPI that he claimed should make 400 hp according to desktop dyno, and then laid down a whopping 190ish whp.

They have things things called Dyno's so we don't have to guess and/or make false claims.

Build it.

Dyno it.

Then post and tell us.

What year Iroc?

I @$$ume that he has plans to dyno the car and whoever guesses closest to the actual output will receive a congratulatory handshake from Chuck Norris.

I was also assuming everything else was basically stock AND the car would have a good tune. Obviously 30# injectors need tuning.

I am 100% aware of the existence of dynos....just trying to get input before I spend thousands on an engine.
HP guesses on this engine with a Stealth Ram?

So you're really looking for build advice?

Well I tried that and all I heard was "put in an LSx"

Here is my last build and what it dyno'd (in a fiero)
ZZ4 cam (208/221 and .480/.510 lift)
Stock Vortec Heads with stock 1.5 rockers
10.2:1 355
24lb Ramjet PFI injectors
97 Vortec truck pump
Ramjet PFI Intake with 75mm monoblade thottle
Tru-ram cast manifolds
7730 ecm tuned by me

Very mild setup with excellent street manners.
Dyno'd 283 whp/317 wtq

Better heads, larger cam, and headers would have really woke it up... but when LS4 instead.

The only thing a 383 TPI setup should be in is a truck.
If you are sticking with the SBC platform, go with a HSR, RamJet, MiniRam, or modified LT1 setup.

Check out www.speedtalk.com
There are a lot good SBC builders there.
What chassis is this going into?

The HSR would *DEFINITELY* be an improvement over TPI.
If you're staying with stock heads, the Vortecs would be an improvement over the L98 heads, and are pretty much the best production heads made. At 165cc, they're probably a bit small for a 383.
I'm pretty sure the HSR is available for Vortec heads.
Atilla says he knows how to clean up the exhaust ports on the Vortecs a bit. Don't touch the intake side.
Tunable engine management of some sort is going to be a must. The 7730 with $8D has been hacked to hell and back and should be able to run this engine just fine.

If you can get high quality headers for the chassis it's in, go for those, too.

87 IROC. Orginally L98 700R4 373 gears

Sorry meant 3.27 rear gears

The engine builder also offers a similar setup with vortec heads. I might go that route and get the vortec HSR

Why is anyone else even chiming in? Not a damn one of y'all knows the first thing about it, so STFU!
Gooch,
A Vortec-headed TPI 350 is perfectly capable of 416 HP @ 5000 RPM, and 487 TQ @ 4000 RPM with 430 ft-lbs at just 2500. HP hangs on with 396 at 5500 and 386 at 6000.
A ZZ4-headed 383 TPI is perfectly capable of 458 HP and 534 ft-lbs. Torque is over 450 from 2900-5200 and there's still 400 ft-lbs at 6000 RPM.
Take your pick and I'll provide the specs.
Stealth Ram gives up far too much low-end and mid-range to be worth considering.

Or just point him to the article:
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com/te ... ewall.html

Parts list in short:
210/220-.500/.510-114-110
Vortec Heads
Sd Vortec Base
Accel Large Runners
Accel 58mm Tb
24# Inj./ 43# Fuel Psi/ 93 Pump Gas
Complete Msd Ignition Controlled By Accel Gen7
1-3/4 Headers
2.5 Flowmaster Dual Ex./

No doubt it's a nice engine, but the cost of the aftermarket TPI hardware rises quickly.

Also, generally favorable review of HSR installation and racing with minimal tuning (more tuning would have given better results, but the car dropped about .3 vs. the TPI):

Y'all ever been in a musty old library, with a matching librarian who isn't there for the paycheck? What she says is law while you're in her domain. Well, power recipes for SBCs is my domain, and I tolerate no insubordination, from anyone, ever.

Reciting published articles for engine builds does not make you a SBC expert beyond question or debate. Show me written proof of an engine builder or magazine even making reference to your skills or accomplishments as a head porter or engine builder, then I might actually listen to something you have to say. Until then, all you are to me is a reciter/puppet of engine build articles with a very low level of basic machining/engine building hands on skills. This opinion is based on the many of the pics you have posted/deleted over the years (I lost all respect for you the moment you told me to properly transfer a hole location by butchering it up, and filling the gap with JB weld).

Yeah, no thanks. I'll keep my hand.

Put me down for 295 HP, 300 ft-lbs. Although apparently the engine in question doesn't exist yet...
