I removed the belts today and the rattling/tapping is still there.
Its either something internal or an exhaust leak (which im hoping for).
Any way to check for an exhaust leak when the manifold isnt really visible?
Maybe spray marine fogging oil in the intake amd look for smoke down by the firewall?

Can we assume the noise wasn't there before the new lifters? Or did you replace the lifters because you had the same noise? Microphones have a hard time picking up engine sounds, but it sounds lime a top end issue. Get some rubber hose and place it to your ear and listen around the engine to see where it is loudest. I would start at the valve covers.

You removed both belts?

Very strange. I took the car for a ride and the rattling stopped. I guess the rislone worked. But then I took it for another ride after washing it and the rattle came back just like before. The rislone is still in it so maybe I should just keepmdriving t aNd see if it goes away again and then see if it comes back again.

This sucks.
