Need 3.4 DOHC .bin and definition file

Need 3.4 DOHC .bin and definition file

Post by Series8217 »

I've decided to try and tune my 3.4 DOHC using an EPROM programmer I got from Moates.net and the TunerPro software (http://www.supportfitness.com/mark/tunerpro/), since its free. I'll buy TunerCat with the $DF definition if doing chips for myself works out well enough to make it worth the cost. I was going to have Darth do my chip after I do a dyno run to establish my A/F ratio, but I like the idea of tweaking stuff without having to send the chip out so I'll see what I can do.

With GMPCM apparently gone forever, a big source of binaries and tuning software is gone. I did find the binary for the 3.4 DOHC on www.60degreev6.com but now I need a definition file for it for TunerPro. I'm using the 9396 ECM with the BCFA code since I have a 5-speed.

Also, I'd like to experiment with the TGP code in the 9396 if I have some free time over the winter break. I see a lot of different binaries for the 3.1 Turbo on 60degreev6.com.. which one should I use?

Interesting...

I just went to TunerCat. Didn't remember seeing a definition file for the 3.4 TDC.

This may not be news to most people, but I didn't realize the TGP and the DOHC both used the 9396 and the same definition file.

Click on "Supported ECMs" on the left. Its the last one under Buick/Pontiac cars.

Now that you've got it, little help with the definition file?

I wouldn't mind having a DF to look at...

They didn't. BUT, apparently the $8F code works in one of the TDC ECMs because (I think) Sinister has done one like that.

Yup. He's actually done a few now for some folks on Old Europe. Apparently the only issue is an unstable idle. I imagine he'll work that out.

I'm willing to host binaries here if anyone wants to put together a database to put online.

It would be nice to share definition files though :thumbleft:

You can use this chart to find the code and then download it at 60deg:
http://tunercat.com/tnr_desc/do_tc.html

Ben, how about adding the ECM p/ns to that chart on your site?
Or we could mirror the files here and have a more comprehensive directory. It'd be nice to also have a place to share modified binaries.. i.e. when I get my 3.4 DOHC tuned with the 13 degree retard I could share that for others with a similar setup.

I know I *can* find the ECM numbers... they're just not in that table. Annoying.

TunerCat's CalData works very well for identifying bins/ECMs.
