Because this arrived in the mail a few days ago.

Welcome Garrett GT30r fully ball bearing turbocharger. Was about $1400 with the option V-band exhaust connection. It will be going a built 2.4l DOHC in my friend's 98 Cavilier.

Compressor: 76.2mm wheel 56 trim .60 ar
Turbine: 60mm wheel 84 trim .82 ar

That looks like that optional ATP V band housing. Is that where he got it from? Its just a straight 30R?

For one of the best turbochargers ever made, we're not complaining. Seriously, full boost by 2500-3000rpm, holding that to and past 7000.

Fuck that!

That's like, holy long drive batman. Not to mention it'd be an extra 10 hours since we are in Colorado Springs.

As for the outer openings, I'm honestly not sure. But at any rate, they require a goddamned 4" inlet!

I don't fucking think so. A neon that comes with an LSD and turbo from factory vs a pos Cavalier? Aftermarket turbo or not, the Cavalier is ghey.

At least it's only a 2 door, and doesn't look gay.

And factory turbo doesn't mean shit when the Cavalier is not only beating your ass, but also beating the Z06 that's kicking your ass.

Does the Cavalier come with a bottom end strong enough to run 500hp from factory? Don't think so.

The SRT-4 looks far more badass than a cavalier. I don't care how many doors it has.

Who cares? It has a bottom end that will stand 1000hp now, and still cost less than the SRT4, even with the expensive components we are using.

Bingo...You can see where another ring was actually picked onto the top of the recirculation passages like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/F ... o/7f_1.jpg

You can see the gap in between the ring and the top of the passages...I haven't found anything regarding the advantages between leaving it in, and taking it out like in your friend's turbo...The 4" inlet is going to be a major PITA for me too.

Although, the way I'm leaning seems to be contrary to many turbo retailer's move of taking the ring off. In my opinion, it seems that introducing the anti-surge ports directly to incoming intake air would impede proper flow through the remaining length of the compressor blades, as well as decrease effectiveness of the anti-surge inlet by removing proper flow past the gap between the ring and the inlet. I think they take it out to make the intake appear much larger.

But that's really all a guess. :thumbleft:
