That's assuming they even knew the engine was in the rear :scratch:The Dark Side of Will wrote:Did anyone stop to think that a car with the engine in the back is going to be rear heavy?
Lucky no one was under that end. Or given what the car's owner is probably doing to them right now perhaps they wish they were...

I've had my Fiero on a frame lift, and I can see someone dropping it off if they put the front tire on the usual spot for a front engine car and weren't careful about spreading the arms as wide as they would go.
That said, it takes a real winner to NOT see that a rear engine car needs to be lifted differently than a front engine car.

The semi was getting a rear main seal and it was easy to drop the tranny with it 4 ft off the ground and using the tranny jack. (the real reason is that the lift was rated for more than that so we said Why the Fuck not)
Will, I lift my fiero the same as any other car. No special skills required. Except that I drive it on the lift instead of backing it on, so the engine is closer to the toolbox.

The lifts I've used have a little gizmo on the floor. You pull the car in until the front tire is on top of the gizmo and the car is supposedly in the right position to lift. I pull my Fiero in until the front tire is just on the far side of the gizmo and that puts it in perfect position to get the arms under the cradle rails instead of the frame. As long as the factory jack point is between the arms, it'll be fine, but if someone didn't know that... it could get ugly.
Not everyone realizes the engine's in the back. I've had waterboys at drag strips motion me forward until my FRONT tires were in the waterbox... and that was in the Northstar car that was very loud and very obviously a V8.
Whether you pull in or back in just depends on where your tool box is. I'd have to back a Fiero into place to put the engine by the toolbox.
