Has anyone heard one of these factory systems? How do they sound with a fresh un-pounded speaker?Could it be installed in a car that wasnt equipped with it or would that be a waste? My friends aunt had one in her 87 SE Fiero but the LIL sub-woofer was wore out, this was about 17 or so years ago when I was 16.

The Performance Sound helps round out the sound and give it a little more bass, but you can't really expect anything bumping out of a 4" sub. If you're going to do the work to install a sub because you want a sub, spend a little money and do it right and get a real sub. It'll sound better and be much more worth your time and effort.

it adds enough base for the older folks like my dad - we added the stock setup to his car.

but fi you want some thump then you are better off taking an 8" bazooka tube and cutting it down to fit up under the dash next to the heater core.

It looks like Bob Carver is coming up with a subwoofer for cars (instead of the usual home theatre stuff he's done).

Bass Shakers are kind of cool too, if you can find some for cheap.
