They hit him for the (comparatively) inconsequential stuff. The nasty stuff (which incidently implicates several other countries) isn't even being charged.

Saddam WANTS to hang. It's his fast-ticket to martyrdom. I say stay his death sentence, and bring him to trial for ALL the stuff he did.

Care to back that one up with a source? The dishonor in hanging like a petty criminal is personal and cultural--not spiritual. Do you honestly think that sympathizers will fell less for him after hanging?

I'm not big on capital punishment--under ANY circumstance. Doesn't matter what he did; state-sponsored death is still murder.

Regardless, it's still appalling that they are rushing this; once he's gone, he can't stand trial for the REALLY bad shit he did. If nothing else, what about the survivors of his previous crimes. Maybe it ends with Saddam's death, but they won't ever have a voice again.

It's fucking shameful.

Im all for his death so he can stop costing me money.

I think Saddam would prefer to be hanged. The Muslims believe the body should not be damaged or destroyed because it could prevent you from entering the afterlife. Hanging leaves the body relatively undamaged but can take several minutes to kill you, especially if your neck is not broken in the fall. I think he will have a short unweighted fall in his future.

I think that it doesn't matter what way he dies, because he went against the most sacred muslim rule: Never harm others.
