Uh, did we vote on wiretaps? Did we vote on this 1/2 trillion $ war that Bush is asking for another 200 billion $ for? A myriad of other things as well..... we are a representative Democracy / Republic, several shades lower than a Parlamentary Monarchy, the very thing we were supposedly trying to escape 100's of years ago.

Like most Republicans / Libertarians (virtually the same thing), he ignores the largest problem, medical needs of society, and has answers for everything else due to this ignorance. I like some of his views however.

As for Health Care... if everyone had a good paying job, and the marketplace was competitive, we would all have health care... and I'm sorry, but this isn't a perfect world, and not EVERYONE will have a good job, food, or healthcare... but that's FREEDOM... FUCK SOCIALISM!!

Ron Paul is a Libertaian running as a Repub, slamming the Repubs as well as the Dems; could he be more confused? So you like the thought of the church running our medical system? What other hairbrained schemes does he advocate? SOME of his ideas are great, such as less gov intervention into our lives, but if he were king the elites would run over the prolatariat (you and me). Ron Paul is delluded.

WOW, this is a diff version of DB that I have not known b4. I agree, fuck people, I mean grouping of assets with few individuals is more important than being good to each other. Yea, fuck working together as one country, let's advocate violence stemming from class envy. :thumbleft:

So who builds roads under anarchy (Libertarianism)? Who pays for schools? Who pays for prisons? Who pays for operations of government? Who pays for the military, hopefully in a scaled-down mode? What's how SS was formed? Safety net or primary support? Not sure which you are saying.

SS, as well as teh 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act were formed after the Great Depression by FDR of course. These were in reaction to atrocities of that era from conditions. FDR must have been liked enough to be reelected 3 times, so maybe he did something right.

SS was conceived as a safety net. When it was enacted, the average life expectancy was LESS than the retirement age... A person was expected to die before being able to draw benefits.
Now it's almost expected that the government will pay for 20-30+ years of retirement. People don't plan for their own futures the way they should and it's because they expect the government to take care of them. That's not freedom or self-determination.
