Job offering
I just started a new job at the beginning of October, I work at the same place as my GF, it started out to be a tempory job to get some money, but I like it, and the bosses like my work, I am already doing the more technical stuff there. My boss is transferring to FtMcmurray at the end of this month, and he has offered me and my GF a job up there. Right now I am making $16/h, but if I take this job, I will be getting $26-28/hr, which isnt much for FtMcmurray, but they supply us with a 2 bedroom condo, and I will be getting a company truck, and doing field work too, so that takes care of the expensive housing up there. I like the idea, but FtMcmurray is remote, and I dont know if I would like it or not, I may have to give up stuff like my AutoX and things like that, since Edmonton is a 4 hour drive or so away.

Right now I just repack the incoming waste. I go through it and sort it out so it can be sent to the right disposal place (incineration, landfill, recycle, etc...), I do the more complex ones though like the flammable liquids (MEK, Methanol, Toluene, Halogenated Solvents, etc), and the other chemicals (Acids, Bases, Corrisives, poisionouses, etc...), I have to bulk them with like substances, to be sent away, we get some interesting stuff, like I had some organic peroxides one day, and some nitric acid the next. In Ft. McMurray, I will be what they call a field tech, I will be going to the collection sites and picking up the hazardous waste, sorting it, packing it, and sending it where it has to go.

Paid transportation and housing plus that much an hour? Sounds like a pretty good deal. I have no idea what I make an hour, but that seems like a lot! As already mentioned, go for it and save up some money.
