This is what happens when you suck at driving

Post by Series8217 »

Downshifted way too hard right before I entered a turn while already doing some mad braking. The rear wheels locked up and I spun out. Won't be doing that again. It didn't help that my rear swaybar is too stiff for my car and it oversteers like mad in steady state.

http://media.putfile.com/34-DOHC-Fiero- ... -downshift

I have now disconnected the rear swaybar so it corners proper now (I used to have to get on the gas right away entering a turn!). I also match the revs properly with teh gas pedal when I downshift now. Stayin' alive!

PS: Doesn't this motor sound bitchin'? ;-)

you're a lucky bastard... if you caught dirt you might have flipped. I think that played out in the best case scenario.

That car sounds even meaner in person. Just evil, evil, evil.

I rode out with Steven on Highway 25 Monday on his way back out to LA. We did a little roll, but we never got a good dragrace going. The walkie talkie that I gave Steven to let him know where I wanted to do it wasn't working right and celphhones don't work out there, so while I was trying to get him to stop, he was blazing down the road at 100!
:afrocool:

The roll was from about 60 to 80 I think. He downshifted and dipped, then I cracked some throttle and walked him. He said he had it floored, I still had some pedal.

PS, I sent you a vid from my phone of me wearing the new off of my 245's. I got my coilovers yesterday, so more meat in the backend. Thought I'd continue the hijack.

The plugin finder service tells me that no suitable plugins were found and gives me only the option of a manual plugin install.

Did a little digging in the source code... it's a .wmv and takes windows media plugin. I didn't have WMP on this comp... downloading now.

Nice spin. 198's a sweet road. You need a cameraman with more nerve.

Need to see outside the car when it's spinning.

What kind of bar do you have?

Bolt a block of wood to your gas pedal so that you can heel-toe.

[9.2]

A perfect 10 would have been a complete 360, and continuing in your original direction. Keeping it in your lane was commendable though, even though you only managed a 180.

That engine does sound badazz.

Just stole one off a Formula at the junkyard. I have polyurethane bushings and endlinks on both the front and rear bars. Basically the whole Formula running gear but it still oversteers like mad. I think its just because of the significantly higher center of gravity of my motor combined with the shitty roll center due to the car being lowered... must be getting a ridiculous amount of weight transfer. With the swaybar disconnected now it feels different even going around turns at a fairly low speed. Any ideas on why my car would behave so differently from a Formula if its not because of the heavier motor and lowering?

That could work, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the idea. I usually make a crude attempt at heel-toeing as it is but its pretty much impossible since that gas pedal is so low.
