E-file providers

Post by The Dark Side of Will »

Was getting started doing the taxes today...
In years past for no particular reason I'd used www.taxact.com but as I was signing in this year, I encountered a problem with their website that got me so pi$$ed off I just don't want to bother dealing with them anymore.

Maybe I'm holding my particular bar too high, but customer service means a LOT to me. It also starts with the website. If it's obvious that someone has not put enough thought or testing into their website, then that gives me the impression that they don't take customer service seriously. If they don't take customer service seriously, I'll get more pissed off than the product is worth trying to deal with them if I have a problem.
Since I don't have anything keeping me with that provider, this is more than enough to send me to a different provider.

What e-file websites do you gents recommend and how have your experiences been with them?

Thanks.

I've been using TurboTax by Intuit for the past several years. The have e-filing and you can even do your taxes on line without having to buy the software first.
I had to splurge for the Deluxe version this year, because of all the stock transactions I had last year, but it was worth it.
The have an interview style, that helps determine what forms you will need and they also have a deduction finder, to help find all the deductions you qualify for. They even run an audit of your return to see if it raises any red flags.
I usually get my refund checks a couple of weeks after I e-file.
I treat others as they treat me

I tried H&R Block in the interim. They seemed much better at it than TaxAct ever was. I haven't filed yet, so I guess I'll give TurboTax a shot and see if I like it any better. I don't get to e-file for free anymore... so sad.
