Renesis rotary engine + Fiero
Can it work? IIRC, you can't get the new rotary's from the RX-8's by themselves, but if you could, could one be stuffed into the Fiero?

I're really not done that much with engines. I'll be lucky if I can replace the head gasket(s) for under 500 bux.
A standalone? You do mean RX-8 dash/computer/thing right?
What about the transmission?
All this stuff is currently pretty far over my head, so I need a stepladder!

The renesis motor sucks ass for power. Why would anyone want to swap it is beyond me.
Please don't keep asking questions about weather motors can be done or not. Thats not what this board is about. Do your own research first. Check out photos online and take measurements at a dealer.
Why do people with Fieros think that they must be different and swap a motor thats never been done before? Not to mention most of the time the people asking have no skill and no money. Like what are they looking for? A handout of info and for someone to do it for them for free?

Shaun (2), I can't imagine why you would think said engine sucks, but that's not why I was asking. I was simply curious as to if it could be done. I'm not going to go and try it (unless I win the lottery!)
This is also the only time I've ever asked about replacing the engine with something non standard. I had considered putting a v8 into my fiero, but have decided it would just be better to rebuild or replace the borked engine I already have.
You are right. I have little to no skill with engines, and have little or no money. I have to borrow money from my parents because I need to drive to (and for) work, and I don't have the proper tools or garage anyhow.

Of course it can. Anything can be done, it's just a matter of time, money, resources, and desire.Starlite528 wrote:I was simply curious as to if it could be done.
About this case in particular, I've heard a variety of people talk about rotarizing a Fiero but to my knowledge nobody is driving one.
Rotaries are cool.

Not quite true, the 2nd gen RX7s (Whatever gen, the newest, rounded ones), only redlined at 8 or 9k, and power came on REALLY strong after 4,000rpm. So not too much worse than a 3.4 DOHC, only these things pulled harder, and had a much wider curve. I actually really liked the TT RX7 I test drove, but it was more than I wanted to spend, and really small on the inside.Dirty Sanchez wrote:Why would you want a rotary engine in the first place? They need to have the hell revved out of them to make any torque.
88GT 3.4 DOHC Turbo
