Re: Post your current stable of cars and toys!
I don't spend much on my cars/vehicular toys, but here is what has wheels at my house. 88 Fiero w/ LS4/F40, 382 whp @ 6800 RPM: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s162/fieroguru/LS4/IMG_0453-1.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s162/fieroguru/LS4/IMG_0544.jpg 88 GT Clone w 2.5/125C (AKA 4cyl fas...

Re: Manual Transmission for my Northstar
My old SBC/Getrag fiero was fun, but spending 8 hrs on the interstate turning 3K RPM's and getting 22 MPG got old. The lower cruise RPM's with the F40 is nice and helps the MPG for the larger engines. I am up to 29 mpg with my LS4/F40 combo at 70-75 mph. The V8 car I am working on has the F23 and I ...

How did you do? I haven't seen a thread on Old Europe about it. If I missed it feel free to post it here Yes, everything is in my build thread in the construction zone. Just noticed jgunset had his ls3 Fiero there and ran a best of 13.05 Yeah, he was cool to hang out with. Our cars are within about...

Kru had an orange 88 coupe w/o AC. It was the first one I had seen w/o and the last I have seen as well.

Re: Clutchnet Vs. Spec
I have ran a Spec Stage 2+, Stage 3, and several Stage 3+'s. Stage 3+ is the only one I will ever buy again (or the Stage 4+ which is a Stage 3+ w/o hub springs). The stage 2+ is Stage 2 (kevlar) on one side, Stage 3 six puck on the other - would not hold the torque of the SBC (317 wtq) Spec Stage 3...

Re: Manual Transmission that Fits Several Engines?
Do you know anything about that 455 Olds weight? That one doesn't pass the smell test for me. I don't see how an engine swap with a powertrain that weighs less than 1000 lbs can add 1000 lbs to the car. Is that your photobucket? That's Tracy's car with the 455/THM425, roots style blower, etc. http:...

Re: Manual Transmission that Fits Several Engines?
Here are some typical vehicle weights stock and swapped from a single set of race scales. Some of the weights are quite interesting.

Re: Manual Transmission that Fits Several Engines?
Here is the response I posted in the thread on Old Europe: The 3500 uses the GM Metric bell housing Pattern. All the RWD engines in the LS family use the old SBC/BBC bell housing pattern. Only the FWD LS4 has the same metric bell housing pattern as the 3500. Manual transmissions with the metric bell...

Re: What sensors are used in closed loop but not open loop?
I would unplug the O2 sensor and drive it from a cold startup to normal temp to see if it behaves the same or not. It could be the car likes the engine "cold" vs. hot not necessarily open loop vs. closed loop. Cold start, open loop and Power Enrichment all add more fuel, so you could have ...

Re: 30th Fiero Anniversary
The event was going to cost $2100 to be held. By the deadline to either book or pass on the event, there were only 8 people with paid registration of $40 ($320). So it was cancelled. I was a shame as I was one of the 8 and it was the main thing I was interested in doing at the 30th.

Re: 88 L36 swap
I used 4 lower control arm bushings for the mounts on my LS4/F40 and there is no visible movement. Mine are from the front lower control arms of a mid 70's camaro. They are quite stiff and cheap (about $7 each). Just space them as far apart as possible on all 4 corners of the swap.

Had you asked last year, it would have been easy. I cut apart about 10 rear struts when I was purging parts for the move.

Packaging.
While the larger wheel has wider slots, the surface speed of the edge is also faster. Since the notches are the same duration in degrees, the time it takes the notch to pass the sensor remains the same for a given RPM.

For the later OBD2 stuff that doesn't have an EGR, you can also use the A/C pressure input or the fuel tank pressure input. I am using the fuel tank pressure input in the E67 for my wideband, but it only logs the voltage. I dump the logs into excel spreadsheets so I have the conversion in the spread...

Re: Coupe/Formula Front End Aero
There is a product on the market for the C4 corvette rear hatches. It snaps to the hatch latch and then snaps into the stock catch and raises the rear hatch about 3" to improve venting and reduce buffeting when you have the windows down or the targa off. Should just snap in place for the fiero ...

Re: Coupe/Formula Front End Aero
On my 88 coupe I drilled a couple of 3" holes in the side of the head light buckets to vent the air inside the fender area, then drilled three 3" holes in the wheel well liner... it helped, but my headlights are still popping up. I think this method would work better with the headlights re...

Re: bin file 1998 F-body, 3.8L 5 speed
Access to the the tune repository is based on serial # registration of the HP Tuners devise, so you have to have a registered HP Tuners setup for access. There are two 2000 2.2 Auto calibrations there, but no manuals. There are manual 2.2 Cavalier calibrations for 1998 and 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. If...
