Isn't there an RB30E made in Australia -- even though it's SOHC? You can put the RB26DET head on the RB30E block IIRC. I remember a lot of this discussion when we put the RB20DET in my friend's 240sx.

It's *for* a Toyota engine, but they don't discuss specifics too much. A lot of it is general theory. It's a decent site.

I snapped a few pictures of the engine bay right when I got the car. It was before I started school back in the fall, so I used my camera instead of my friend's nice one so the pictures aren't near as good quality, but you can still see how disgusting everything was. I still need to button up a few ...

Just picked up a "new" M5

Well, my dad picked up a 1988 BMW M5 towards the end of the summer with plans to use the transmission in his M6. Unfortunately (Fortunately?) the car was way too nice for us to take it's transmission and still sleep at night, so I decided to start driving it and cleaning it up. I'll probably sell my...

So the Quad4 compressor doesn't have a built in switch? Where would I wire a switch to if I ran one inline? Just in series with the 2 wires running to the A/C clutch? Or, does the V6 Fiero compressor work differently?

Sorry for all the questions -- I have neither compressor here with me right now.

I wonder how the Quad4, 88GT, and 3.4DOHC compressors are different. -- I have a wiring diagram for the Quad and the Fiero, so I'll check to see if I can find any switches or anything. The only problem is that I have all the diagrams for the Fiero, but only the engine harness diagram for the Quad4.....

I had thought about making the 88 Fiero compressor bolt onto the Quad4, but that would involve not only making the mounts, but also changing the clutch because the Quad4 and Fiero use a different style belt. I would rather play around with a few wires.

So all the wiring is the same? Including any pressure switches and what not? I have lines made up already, I just haven't installed them because I didn't think that was all it would take.

http://www.fiero.com/forum/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20041015-2-045322.html I don't know what type of compressor comes on the Quad4. Evidently the '88GT uses a HR6 compressor, while many of the 4cyl Fieros used a V5. It's about to get hot here -- I'm gonna need my A/C in order to give the Fiero t...

Quad4 A/C compressor

I'm trying to hook up my A/C lines from the stock Fiero A/C system to the Quad4 compressor. Will there be any problems? I don't know how different the compressors are. Thanks for the help -- I'm going to search .nl as well.

You don't need to have a ton of money, you just need to have no idea how to spend it. A fiberglass replica body + replacement glass + a nice paint job + wheels and tires, and you've got something almost identical, but for like 10g. Unless that specific car had a meaning to him or something, I don't ...

That's so awesome -- I had an idea awhile ago to use one of those freezers for your garage that are like 3'x2'x2' and build a box shaped like an upside down ice luge, then fill it with water and freeze it, so that I could pop it out of the mold and sell the luge to frat houses on campus. Initial cos...

Turbo header -- equal length, equal pressure, what?

I was originally planning to build an equal length header for my Quad4, but I've been curious about "equal pressure" headers for a turbocharged car. How can you estimate pressure in a primary? I would imagine there is a formula dealing with pipe lengths, bend radii and degrees, and primary...

I used to really like the polishing, but if you choose to, powdercoat it for sure! Raw aluminum is a PITA to keep looking nice. Personally, I would probably prime them and put a nice coat of paint that actually looks like aluminum, then leave it. I love a nice cast look. My cam towers are polished r...
